it doesn't look like it actually mixes video(ie two channels of video mixed 2gether), just fades black in and out, looks like a domestic thing for dads to tidy up their camcorder movies of their kids, having contrast etc controls can be useful, as can having a fade to black downstream, but it's pretty bulky for that when u can get the same features from a box 1/4 the size
