Hello dudes,
has anyone contacts of club owners or Party makers of one or all of these citys? I am planning to make trip over to Tokio and want to pay via visualising events there. Please help me.
Cheers nicolas

hi,
last april i spent all the month in Japan travelling to look for VJ sets and Vjs.
I've been in tokyo, osaka, kyoto.
in tokyo the best clubs you can contact are:
WOMB in Shibuya area (http://www.womb.co.jp)
I was there for the club 5th year party: 4 Vjs from 1 to 7 AM
Glamoove, the creator of Motion Dive was there and he was quite good.
the owners are very interested in foregners VJs so it's a good place to start your tour.
YELLOW in Roppongi area (ask for Erika, she's the manager, english speaking, nice and very free)
except for Womb, VJsets are quite random so I suggest you to look for the free english magazine called METROPOLIS.
you can find it at big hotel lounge hall, international cafes, etc. there is a weekly list of clubs and events.
there's also a japanese language magazine, I don't remeber its name but it's the most used by tokyo people, just go to newspaper kiosks and ask for it. it's a A4 sheet size.
even if it's written in japanese the calendar is comprehensible (dates, nemes of club, entry fees) and then you can just look for clubs with a VJ set.
as far Kyoto and Osaka are concerned go to big music shops (the 2-3 floors stores) and look for flyers, I realised it's the best way to know about VJsets.

SUGGESTIONS:
-1
if you have to ask for VJs remeber to pronunce the V as a B otherwise they will not understand you and you will loose a lot of time.
-2
whenever you find a club to go, look for the telephone number and make a call . tell them you are a foregner VJ and ask for a press pass, they will acoord it easly. this will allow you to pay a riduced entry fees and to take picture inside the club.
-3
when you are in ask for the producer or the menager and start your contact, they are very open but you need a lot of patience because sometimes they are not so flexible.
good luck and if u need some more informations write me:

I did a few performances while I was in Tokyo two years ago, not strictly vjing but a/v stuff. Most club managers are friendly and open, anyway, I suggest you to contact them by email introducing your work before you arrive there. Performance fees were not stellar but I got a few nice extras including a shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Himeji to play in a small bar/club.
Have fun!
