Yeah, Moscow, as in Russia.
We're especially interested in people who use Derivative's Touch or who can make the Edirol P1 sing and dance.
If you have experience using either of these, and have any thoughts about using them live for events, please post a reply to this thread. If you'd like to be considered for a gig here or would like more information, you are welcome to send a private message to me.
Thanks!

why specifically with those 2 technologies?

I guess the same Q as I posted in another thread:
Will you consider non-European VJs, and do you have any budget to sponsor international travel?

We're interested in those two systems because we're interested in interactivity. There's a Touch synth called 'reckless' which plays with pictures of the guests, and we'd like to be able to mix pictures taken on an electronic camera into the visuals.
Another thing we're interested in is letting guests fool around, in a limited way, with the graphics, at least on one screen. To that end, the P1 has a touch screen, which makes it easier for first timers.
In general, we're interested in 3D animation for shows.
What all this means is, we are fishing around for VAs who know something about these technologies. Doesn't mean we'd let guests touch your stuff. While we're not really looking to set up gigs at this time, and our budget for VAs isn't anything impressive, the right folks might find it interesting.
Also, in all frankness, to bring a VA from North America is kinda wasteful from both our standpoints. Speaking as a Chicago boy, making a flight that takes between 11 and 13 hours for one gig might not be worth your while. Airfare ain't cheap aither, compared to flying someone in from London.
I can tell you this, though, Moscow's a helluva fun town, I've lived here 10 years; and it's starting to get known in the DJ circles. Deep Dish recorded one of the Global Underground discs live here and they've been back more'n a few times.
Hope that helps clarify things.

...i think pretty much any vj today can provide such a service with his base equipment (firewire or usb to laptop to some vj-soft) - whether with or without a touch player.

your better off explaining what you want achive and then letting someone with more experiance choose the tech to do it - its easy to read the web a think that a certan thing might work well but ultimatly it takes years of experiance to know how to make a solidly reliable interactive experiance.
i have experiance building interactive controllers for the audiance to use to control video and can pretty easaly make systems that allow a basic level of control to be used by anyone. i wouldn't use an edirol p1 to do it though.

...isn't what we're looking for. Mixing in pictures, acknowledged, ain't that hard. The rest of it IS.

I sounds like you have something in mind but I really cannot see what you are trying to do.
The more details the better here. A few of use here have done custom installs for art gallery, clubs and chains of bars, etc
So you are looking for a setup the blends digtal pictures of the night from a camera into a 3d enviorment of visuals.
I have done a similar custom setup for this for a client of mine in the states already.
Is this 3D enviornment of your choosing or from an orginal artist?
And also your are looking for an interactive (I presume with the audence/clubgoers) setup where people can choose scenes/clips/pictures/overlays, etc
To be honest I feel I would need more information before giving any advice.
You obviously have some ideas of what you are after please share.

I would be willing to take a long flight to Russia just for the life experience, but hey, if it's not worth it in the budget, it's not worth it. :)
Good luck with this show! :)

"Mixing in pictures, acknowledged, ain't that hard. " to do badly i would agree . to let someone do well however , that has there own system and to let them take the helm , would require an open mind and a lack of ego , or at least the abilaty to think outside the box . Mosscow i've heard though is a major party town and doing a gig there would be cool .

Well yeah, when you get right down to it, there are four things we're interested in.
1) Someone who knows well, and can run Derivative's Touch through its paces at an event so we can watch it in action and justify its use and purchase.
2) Someone who can integrate electronic photos taken during an event into their show so that guests see themselves on the big screen.
3) checking to see how practicable it is to use 3D graphics modelling, together with a 3D rendering system, to generate graphics that can be watched at a party where everyone wears those funky glasses.
4) creating a way in which guests can fool around with a very simple interface which already tracks BPMs for them and lets them play. For those who have the Touch player, it's immediately clear that any goofball can make cool stuff happen without any experience.
So you can see we're looking for different things which might not be found all in one VA. But Derivative's Touch CAN handle all four of these things; that's why we're looking for someone experienced with it.
I hope I've been more clear.
Thanks.

Hello,
i am a kind of known hungarian vj doing exclusively 3d animations and i will be in Moscow in December 8,9,10. I would be interested to do some vj-ing there, if there is any good party planned for the mentioned dates.

Bordos,
I'm not sure if you was aware the last reply on this thread was 5 and 1/2 years ago. I doubt you will be getting any replys from your posting..
TBH, we just don't see many Moscow VJ's here on the forum for whatever reason.
I know how it is to be traveling somewhere and want to pick up a gig. I have certainly been there myself.
Maybe you might be able to get in touch this group (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&vanity=moscowgrooves) of Moscow VJ's..
Good Luck!
