andy goldsworthy film

well those of us in the UK have already missed the screenings for this film about Andy Goldsworthy, but people in US still can see it.. no info on dvd release, but lets watch this space..

for those of you who have not come across Andy Goldsworthy, he is a british artist who works with nature. a trained dry stone waller he makes sculptures out of rocks, arranges leaves into a perfect colour bar and similar things (my favourite is him lying down when it starts to rain, leaving a dry, human shaped patch on the ground).. all his work (as far as I know) is outside of gallery space and he leaves it to be found by people..

Top geezer - also check out Richard Long, another site-specific artist in a similar, if more earthy vein. I'm sure that a lot of VJs would find this kind of work really relevant and, dare I say it, "inspirational"?

i particularly admire goldsworthy's "decaying" art.

all his art are perfect pieces for a photograph but the idea that the natural "product" deteriotes appeals....long is a bit too classically literal for my tastes

Yay!!! a new gooldsworthy film!! i hope its wll shot (and mixable heh hehe)
will be a blast to use for VJing. sorta like this earthy gallery (http://eco-art.com/artist_list.cfm) i work with now and then, they have a bevy of great earth based artists. super fun to shoot and mix!!

a new film? I didn't realise there were others.. any titles for me to go and find? or did you just mean that in the sense that it's just been made?

Sam Montague did one comissioned by Brittish Air a short all about Andy.... (nice visuals ==> Super 16) ...aslo Chanel 4 did one in '96 called "Wood"

but rivers looks reallt really hot!
