I did a VJ gig for Esperanza myself last year. My personal experience is that the parties they organise are quite unique.
It's centered around the DJ, but there are also live acts.
The one I VJed at had live percussion (latin style), an MC and a keyboard player.
There were more, I also think the MC used a wireless Mic which was passed around the audience. The problem was that at the time I couldn't see much... the title of the party was "Dia de los Muertos" and I had my Grim Reaper outfit on... couldn't look around that much with that blasted outfit :-)

As for the fee, imo it was more than decent. And I mean decent for 4 hours of preparation, 2 x 1hour driving and 8 hours VJing (including set-up).

But maybe I'm a bit biased.... I just loved VJing there =)
