Ok, here's a silly question. Is there anywhere/anyone in Perth (apparently the most isolated major city in the world) when there are VJ's plying their trade?

we (Eskatonia) do most of the Deep as Funk (rif productions) and Earthcore events in Sydney plus a bunch of other psytrance and other more fringe events.

Eyebyte does a lot of nights at Home, Gas, the two tribes parties, Utopia parties and others.

Spook seems to do most of the big break nights and a lot of drum n bass nights around town.

Morph seems to have all the really big internationals sewn up (Carl Cox etc) but I think Eyebyte is giving him some competition.

Tesseract seem to have mostly moved to opera house type stuff but I think they still do Transmission and other events.

Others around Rolly, 4th Dimension, Mirrormana, Mind Over Media.

I think only Home, Gas and Kink have regular VJ's for normal club nights, every where it's only for a special event.

Hmmm something tells me they won't be bothering to get in a local VJ to operate it, I'm guessing its gonna be a "wonderful" set and forget solution to their video "problem" pitty.....

oh and nema I saw your post on the Japanese VJ scene, are you now going to tell us every place in the world that the hippo is? oh and I supposed then we should all jsut give up our own stuff and learn how to operate hippos huh?

Nema

i don't know if they need a hippo operator in perth, but why not go there and ask if they need one?

morph, i would like to see some VJs getting good payed jobs, that's all.

morph, mr. Grant Muir, you are one of the leeding contributors on VJ Central. you are constantly progressing in VJing since years. everybody here admires and knows you. no doubts you deserve respect and are a talented and popular VJ. i really wonder what is your problem with me, a washed-up nobody with 0 VJC karma, in your opinion a programmer of a looser-VJ-software called visualJockey riding a wild green hippo somewhere in the jungle.

do you really need it for your ego, allerging that i have dishonest motives each time i open my mouth?

Actually mate I DON'T think VJo was a LOOSER software, on the contrary I think it was an AWESOME software, it just needed some focus and a better performance UI, but now I'm going over things I have said a million times and I'm VERY sorry developement on it has stopped.

Mate your obviosly a VERY talented programmer, but it seems your still pretty annoyed about what happened (which I can totally understand) why not find other interesting ways to contribute to the community??? Insead of mopping around, babbling about the Hippo.

Anyways my main point was niether of the threads were about VJ hardware or software and I guess I jsut saw the hippo posting as irrelevant promo, which has been happening a lot around VJF recently (that ronin geezer, etc) jsut trying to nip it in the bud...

As I said Nema your obviously very talented mate (I wish I had the skills to code something as cool and original as VJo) and I'm glad your still around the scene, heres hoping your feeling better soon and decide to contribute to some of the other interesting discussions here :)

peace

i just don't understand that while i was a fulltime visualJockey programmer, you did not allow me to promote visualJockey. however, visualJockey is over now, also emotionally. now that i am a fulltime programmer of hippotizer, you again don't allow me to spread good news about hippotizer. do you think hippotizer is not a product that should be mentioned in this forums? why? there is more useless and expensive hardware beeing discussed in other threads too... i am confused.

MoRpH

OK I'm not against VJs discussing systems, hardware, whatever they want..... As for ppl that work for companies making REPEATED posts about their product only that falls under this:

From the T&C:
Spam. No unsolicited advertising (spam) will be allowed at all on the websites. If you're a developer you have the right to inform members about new products but avoid promotion material. Coming here exclusively to promote your product/service with total disregard from the community will not be accepted.

The second part is what applies mostly in this situation. This site if for the community to discuss and were all happy to have developers coming here and asking for feedback etc but constant thread hijacking to promote your product is a breach of these rules.

Oh and BTW it jsut not good manners IMHO.

BTW congrats on your new job with Hippo, hope it goes well for you...... and its good to hear your going to be able to continue your work, even if now it is exclusively locked into the hippo.

Cheers

Mate you obviously have PLENTY of stuff you know about, sheeesh...... you created one of the best VJ softs around, which is far more interesting than astroturfing for hippo

Nema

as VJ i don't have much to say, there are much more experienced VJs at this forums. =)

i finished my main work on visualJockey about 3 years ago. there is not much to say about visualJockey anymore, except that i think it has been underestimated at that time a lot. btw, i have to add that concerning visualJockey the honour also belongs to the whole rest of the vjo team and not just to me! only due to the help of some others visualJockey reached its today level, a single person at its own would have never been able to code such an application in such a short time.

after visualJockey i had the possibility of giving up and getting a boring job as database programmer. however, i decided to flew into the jungle and started dancing around the fire, to conjure god the allmighty to bring justice and salvation onto my work of life. god the allmighty answered my prayers by sending me a green hippo, hippotizing all my enemies away. that's my story, and it is all not my fault but my pure destiny.

I appreciate your and ALL the VJo team members work.... I jsut wish it could have been finished but.... thems the breaks.

As for that last paragraph  I think someone needs help :alien:

Nema

don't you know that no software will ever be finished? developing software is a neverending process, especially if it depends a lot on the transforming hardware.

vjo reached a remarkable level tough, and is carried on by the whole community and new coders. that it can be continued independent of the original developers is a good sign.

Perth Vj's!

yeah well i am one of the few vj's here in perth.
I know of 3 or 4 different crews, and a few of the events here have regular gfx.......

great little town though!

oh, and i have often considered asking rise if they need/want a VJ.
but their music policy would not make me happy for a regular gig.
v. cheesy trance/house/techno every week.

so i have never offered my services :(

come to canberra
I'm the resident vj at the biggist club in canberra academy (http://www.academyclub.com.au) in an old cinema with the old screen I think one of the top vj venues in Aus, but of course I am bias. I am very keen to get people coming through to play. also reading through some of the things happening o/s I think we should all get together in a forum, i have run a couple of events with vjing as the focus of promotion and they have been successfull, i am trying to organise a monthly event that is for video. anyone interested in setting up aussie forum or passing through this way drop us a line

Ah good to hear your keen to get some other VJs in Chop. I'm always keen to pop down to canberra for the odd touring international, especially so I can tighten the show between there and the sydney gig. Maybe mention you spoke to me to Chris :) ;)
