Please be gentle....
Could anyone help me out with suggestions of hardware/software that would get me heading in the right direction. I am a (traditional style) film maker interested in learning VJing...would also be interested in seeing peoples work...cheers

Hi,
Have you checked the software (http://www.vjcentral.com/list/software) and hardware (http://www.vjcentral.com/list/hardware) reviews of VJCentral? If you are a film maker, I guess that you'll be more interested in triggering video samples than having computer-generated visuals. I don't know if you are under PC or Mac but for PC some of the best softs to do this are Resolume, Flowmotion, VJamm (Pro) and SVi.
As for seeing other people's work, since you're from UK, check out the AVIT forum on this message board for the VJ event we are organizing this october in Leeds.
Hope this helps :)

Hi okashi!
The best thing I can suggest is to download some demos and have a play with them.
I use MidiVid, but you need a midi keyboard to use it - the other programs pretty much all let you use the computer keyboard too.
You may find (like me) that software alone just isn't enough and you need the feel of a hardware mixer - if you've used mixers when making films then you probably know what I mean. Ebay is a good source of mixers (they are pretty cheap as evevryone is moving to on-computer video editing)
What sort of visuals are you interested in creating? The equipment and software you need varies a little based on what sort of thing you want to end up creating.

... resolume.
in my opinion, it?s the most stable & easiest vj software around.
and there?s a demo version, too.
