I know its not possiblle to make something half resolution to full resolution, but i was hoping if somebody can give me a tip how to fake it?
i made a loop which i have rendered half quality, to see what it was like and then accidently deleted the source.
:(
NOw, I want to render this half ress clip into full res for DVD.
Add some blurriness might help, but maybe someone else has better ideas....?
thanks.

virtualDub for PC has a plugin called "smart smoother" which does a pretty decent job of smoothing crusty images without loosing too much of the detail. It's not blurry like gaussian blur.
Smart Smoother (http://neuron2.net/hiq/smoothhiq.html)
This may not be the complete answer to your dilemma however. You may want to try adding a slight blur and reducing contrast and brightness before applying the smart smoother. Just make sure that all operations are performed at maximum resolution (Super sampling preferred i.e. 1440x960). Also make sure to use bicubic resizing (that's what any decent NLE uses for rescaling, must be manually specified in virtualDub)

there are two tricks i do . number one take the image and put it in the hi rez box say 4 times one in each corner so it looks like the images has been quartered . the image is the same size it's just then using more space , ( get fancy and run them at different times of the loop too just to make it look like that's what you wanted to do all along ) . second trick , fool around with contrast and brightness bring the contrast up a little and the brightness down ( that can eliminate some of the noise when you expand your image ) and if that doesn't work try feathering the image with a channel blur effect . just a touch , nothin crazy , on one or two colors can totally rescue an image , and it's easy to do , and it's a less is more kinda thing . so i'm not sure if that helps or if that's what you meant but all the best having fun with it .
