okay, folks... i'm looking for several good clips of fairly-realistic and stormy clouds.
so far, the only stuff i've found that i really dig are:
1 of the clips that comes with SOAK
horribly expensive stock video stuff from eyewire, etc.
what i might settle for:
cloudy day from http://www.alunablue.com
the multimedia [320x240@15fps] CDs are $100; the normal res. CDs are $200.
these clips are close to what i'm looking for, although they're obviously CG.
eventually, i'll be able to make a bunch of groovy cloud stuff with bryce & a couple of AE plugs, but i'm not sure if i'll be able to pull enough of that stuff together for this project.
any ideas? thanks!

Try going onto any of the US storm chasing / lightning websites (there are lots!). Whilst some of the footage is the usual wobbly hand-held stuff, occasionally there's a gem. Just try typing "storm chasing" or "lightning" into a search engine.

I'm in the process of collecting footage with my digital camera - as soon as there are some suitable clouds in my location (Midlands, UK so there are bound to be some stormclouds soon), I'll post to let you know.
I've also got a 2.45 Meg clip of some (fairly) stormy clouds rolling across shot that you can have right now if you need it. Let me know and I'll email it to you. If anyone wants to host it, it can go online.

I searched some weather sites, but until now I only found some "Action" footage, moving cam + bad quality.
Could you plese up the small clip onto some free webspace, so i can download id??

thanks ya'll!
hey dan - if you wouldn't mind e-mailing it to vt@khord.com - i'll upload it to my site as well if you'd be down with that.
also, if anyone wants to know, i'll be away at a little music festival next week. i'll try to cycle out the video clips currently on my site & replace with newer ones before i take off. most likely i'll also include some of my cloudy clip attempts [mostly made with bryce and/or after effects plugs.
thanks also for the tip on touch player--i'll be looking into that as well...

I've emailed the clip.
If you are after more footage and you don't mind paying, you cvould try this site:
http://www.stormstock.com/
They seem to have a very good selection of storm footage

okay, i finally updated the site a little.
under the video section, there's a bunch of cloud/lightning/storminess clips. i'll probably leave them up for 2 weeks-1 month, then cycle 'em out again.
under the links section, i've added the rolling clouds clip from syzygy visuals. [dan--do you have a site that you want me to link to?]
enjoy!

Ok, this could be conceived as cheating, but you can get some really good realistic effects in Bryce 5 on super high quality render
Or you could go out with a dv cam...

i've done both--thanks though [even grabbed some more DV cloudage on monday, but have yet to get some killer lightning-fortified stormclouds...]
recently i've come across another after effects plug called aurora sky. only made a couple of clips with it. bought it together with psunami [NICE waves!]. i'll probably include some of that stuff in the next batch of clips.
