Hi, I was asking myself how it would be to be signed as VJ to a label or booking agency just for VJ?s and maybe there Audiosupport.

I was diggin?the web and I didn?t found any interesting stuff for me and maybe I was diggin in the wrong way. That?s why I decided to make it by my own. And I?d like to know that do you think of an Label like this, just as releasing stuff getting payed gigs being a kind of headliner and all this stuff what a dj allready has.

cheers

hm, two different pair of shoes i wouldn't try to walk @ once. :)

be sure that u know what u really wanna do:
u don't have to form a label, if u just want to promote ur own stuff
in form of digital media just to increase the chance of getting booked. the distribution of media would be normal
promoactivity style and could be easily extended for
selling those media tru a site or else.

but in general, sure, a vj-label thingy with the backing
of the productive part of the vjcentral krew could be a cool thing

maybe we could join forces with some e-musicians already in the business on a win-win basis. hope i find time to talk to some of the cologne liquid sky posse after the poopkom, cause i know they're preparing a set of dvds right now....

Hi Hamageddon,

in general we don?t wanna promote our stuff. The maingoal is to push the hole vj thing. Of course the Idea was born out of getting more gigs for us but within a wrong understud comment we decided to do it right and provide the VJ art as it is. I mean having new fresh talents and the experienced under one roof within a win/win situation. I was talkin?to some vj?s and some of them are good in what they do but business and having fun behind the decks are to pair af shoes and some of them really don?t know much about business. And wouldn?t it be good just doing your stuff and some1 is taking care that you get your mony and good contracts for events or looking for new clubs and locations and all the stuff? Or even a proffessional PromoCD or the PR at all. I know what I?m saying I study Marketing and Communikation and I?am nearly finished. I guess every1 knows how helpfull PR work is.

gr??e auch nach Frankfurt

hmmm...
That Label thing sounds interesting. Know why ? I'll tell ya. For 7 years or so i've been doing nothing but video-rental applications. Just the technique. I was never really interested in MAKING the VJ-art myself. A few months ago, I realised I had EVERYTING a VJ can dream about. And I didn't make anything. How about putting my knowledge in the technical coordination of a VJ-label ? Huh ? How about me not making anything, just flattening out the road for other vj's. Serious : I mean what I say. I can provide everyone with everything. Everyone can make what they want, I can show it in any way you can imagine !!! Whaddaya think THAT will give on a big event huh ;) ;) :)

Think fast people ... I feel something boiling here ...

Uh, a vjcentral label? :p I think this kind of stuff is best made on a local level, although it would be great to have discussions and articles on how to create / manage a label and all this. It seems electronica-optica.com already has good material on the subject but the more the better :)

I'm sure that in a few years there will be VJ labels everywhere. As some of you mentionned, it's a great way to raise the status of the VJ, not only because of the promotion but also because a label can help for the collaborations (at least for good labels, such as NinjaTune).

(Dronkie, where do I signup? ;))

glad to see there are efforts to get the german vj-scence 2gether

in this special case since there are already ppl from other countries involved, i'm not sure it's wise to move over to a german language basis only. will sure make sense after we laid out the basic concept (which i'm right now working on) and can handle it on a localised basis.

if u like i can add u to my mailing list discussing this topic
but it will be entirely in english till we reached the next base
of development.

add us to the list hama, im interested in how things shake out, even if it ends up germany based, a similar thing might be coalescing around the Aveja group but it's a bit stop start:)

am new to the forum (1st post) - while not trying to hype the company I work for. We ARE a label for VJs.

Moonshine Music started a new division called Moonshine Movies and our first releases are part of our AV:X series (Audio Visual eXperience) - We've put out DVDs put together by Addictive TV in the UK and Atmospherex in the US.

You can check out the releases at:

hey, welcome Moonshine!
I think most here are very familiar with your AV:X series...great stuff...surely the caliber that most here are striving for...the logical question on most peoples minds now would probably be: "How can we get on the label?"
