Does anyone know of a download or resource for software that utilizes the control port of the MX-1 (or MXPro, MXProDV, Titler, etc) I've searched the web high and low to no avail, lemme know what any of you may have found!

http://www.videonics.com/articles/CONTROL.html thats the link to the codes..... I have been thinking for ages about trying to getting a serial to GPI cable and trying to do a soft that will let you record button press macros and then assign them to keyboard keys, have nothing to show for it though :(
I remember someone on eye candy saying it was painfully slow but you never know..... don't know of anything pre written that you could DL :(

Yea, the document you linked to does have all the codes. It also says that you can only update every 5-15 fields, so that's some latency when you look at 30fps. I'll look around some more, and probably end up paying someone to write the soft. Maybe there's already a program that will just let you plug in the codes... hmm. Thanks morph.

I presume you may be able to send the codes out of the serial port via a terminal window???
BTW would love a copy of the software if you get it done :)

Hey, found a telnet program that supports remapping the keyboard and user defined macros. It'll send anything over TCP or serial. download it from Cnet here (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2155-7584923.html?tag=lst-0-14) i'm plugging in the control info tonight... but i won't get my hands on an mx-1 until wednesday. I'll let ya all know how it goes

Hmmmm sounds like it could definately be a goer, keep me informed... would be nice to stick a GUI over the top to emulate the MX1 to make programing the macros easier :)

I agree burst..... I am trying to convince the coder of SVi to add it for the next version.
After talking with James I'm hoping heyVJ will sport it along with being able to control hey VJ with the commandpost :)

does that mean hey vj will be able to control any mixer you can get the codes for or will it just be the mx1?
(Hama has the codes for the hama dvm1000 and I'm sure the panasonic ones must be available)
p.s. morph I'm totally trying to squeeze time to do the MX50 review

You are talking about this passage?
If a command requires that you send multiple characters followed by a Carriage Return (CR) then the time delay between characters must be less than 15 fields of video (1/4 second in NTSC
Doesn`t this mean you can send more than one command in this time??
As far as is understand with my little english, there is only the limitation of the 19.200 bps.
:p
This would make the MX1 very interesting - perhabs if you control it from outside, there is also no (/a smaller) delay when fading (i would like to use a midi fader...)
