I'm creating a fixed video installation for an undated rollerskating concept and want to get opions on the best bang for the buck as far as creating a stimulating video presentation.

Here is what I have to work with so far:

I have 24 Pioneer CRT Video Cubes (50 inch model RM-V5000) with about 3500 hours on the engines.

No video wall processor yet.

I intend to show music videos, live video, and graphics on something that would be a least the size of a 3X3 or 3X4 matrix of the video cubes.

The 3x3 or 3x4 display(s) doesn't not have to use the video cubes. I could possibly use a front projector for the larger display on a selfbuilt screen(s).

I could use multiple monitor video cards for the cubes and or just run single monitor video to the cubes.

A couple of questions come to mind, would the front projected self built screens be bright enough with the light level bright enough to allow beople to skate? (The atmosphese will be somewhat darker than a regular lit room)

If the self-built screens were placed next to the video cubes would it look ok or out of wack?

One of the reasons I am asking this is because of the cost of the video wall processor. If I can get a similar effect with out the cost of the processor I can put that money to work someplace else. The other reason is that I saw some pics on this forum of some great displays on large screens.

Feel free to comment on any part of this and well as to offer any suggestions or cost cutting measures.

Thanks
spence

...only in Texas....;) :P

I think any projection on a homemade screen, no matter how bright, will look like poop next to a video wall with seemless cubes. On the opposite side of the club -er rink(?) you would probably be fine, but side by side, factors like ambient lighting will sink the projected image before you start.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with projectors, it's just that side-by-side there is no comparison to video cubes. Maybe others will disagree?

So don't put the 2 display next to each other or the projected images will look like dog doo.
