you dont really have to wait for a full specked product to come out this way,
if you know how to work with, say a VJ soft and midi, simply replace your conventional controllers with distance sensors and the results will be quite similar to that vid...

I've done something similar using visualJockey color-tracker effect. What is really fun is that the color-tracker can track more than one object at a time so you can even build a multi-user interface with the same principle. The idea is that the module finds the largest area of a given color and return 3 variables : position_X, position_Y and Rotation. It is a lot of fun !
