ok so im gonna rant a little-- sorry but it's almost 6:00pm and waking up after a killer 3 set evening (dope ass dark n funky with my new dj/vj partner semira)..
been doing these parties for years, it's a community thing-- but like with anything good-- at somepoint word gets out..... and then there's just so many people there (& more booze, & less electifying party favours), so last night im playing and minding my own... but its obviouls to me that theres a lot of people who have never been to this little club of ours before (never an exclusive thing, just hard to find if you dont know about it), and thats cool except for this;
at about 4:45 in the AM i see someone dancing a little out of control smash into the hearth of a fire place. ontop of the hearth there are about a dozen candles (now for years we have been having sweet parties here with lots of trippers and tai chi and theres never been a problem with candles. but like i said the crowds getting too big now) the dude knocks into the hearth and knocks over a big bunch of dried flowers into the candles
(wasnt totally his fault, the scenes too big for candles now, and NEVER NEVER NEVER have dreid flowers near candles at aparty)
im sure you can tell where this is going; fortunatley i am staring at the screens and its in my line of sight, cause within 2 seconds the flames were 2 1/2 feet tall! i immediately got two kids attention (I was trapped by the vj booth, but at that moment louder than the speakers) and they smothered it before that flame caught on the ceiling. otherwise there would be only 8 lives left for the lil'Cat....
so heres the thing, i know it looks cool with candels in pumpkins and all that, but USE YOUR FUCKING HEAD WHEN RESPONSIBLE FOR PEOPLE HAIVNG A GOOD TIME.
dried flowers..... sheesh! (I still love these guys, but went around the whole house after that playing fire marshall and saw two more situations that could have ended up really macabre
