Hi , I've just joined the site and as well as being interested in learning about VJing, I am looking for people to work on a couple of gigs I have coming up over the next couple of months.
Anyone with looking for venues with good crowds and eager to get some experience please get in touch! VJs with equiptment preferred if possible...

this sounds like your looking to not pay very much
tell us more about the gigs, size, music type door charge etc.

I hope you're prepared to pay more for a VJ with equipment...
I can honestly say, I LOVE working with clubs that have their own projector(s) at least... they're usually in the best spots AND have their own screens already. Yay! less shit to setup... (and hence, cost to promoters goes down)
the difference in price (for me at least) between bringing projectors and having the club own them already goes like this:
for the amount you'll save, you/the club could buy a projector in approx 3 months with me gigging there weekly. food for thought.

Hi
thanks for the responses, yes I have a tight budget and sure I understand that the equpment costs. One of my venues has just installed, one has old school projectors and the other is a disused tube station we fit out from scratch.
I am willing to pay but the limitations are that we are not quite making a huge profit off the gigs. My DJs/bands normally play for between ?20 and ?250 dependent on stature & size of band etc. Anyone looking to work with me would need to be able to start off at the lower end of that scale. Equipment would of course drive that up...Please bear in mind that no-one is walking away from these gigs loaded.
Having said that we are growing fast, we only started 8months ago and already have three monthly/bi-monthly residencies. What I am looking for is someone with a bit of patience and a lot of energy that wants to grow with us...
If you are interested give me a call on 07957 596044
If it sounds too little let me know what you would expect, for doing venue with and without equpment and maybe we can work something out.
Cheers
Simon

Forgot to say gigs are ?3 - ?4 usually, Aldwych is more but that is split with the other organisers and works out about the same.
venues vary from 200 - 500 capacity...

Yeah, its great (might be a bit cold though!!)...it is quite urgent ...I'd really like to d something for it but its on November 8th. Anyone fancy it, live breaks band funk and breaks dj in our room. Plus a house room and another random room. Will be in central london tonight and at the weekend if anyone wants to have a chat...

id love to play there next time im in teh UK a tube station. wow.... simon just remember that a dj your paying 20 quid is probably not bringing in his own rig [u]nor[/] playing the entire night.... when you are asking for a VJ they will probably be playing the entire night, so the lower end of that scale is pretty bad. if you want to really be a part of the community i think you'll have to pay a little more like in the middle of that scale (without equipment, and the high end with)
but it sounds great and youre on teh right track asking what we feel we need to add properly to your event. good luck!
cheers

you are quite right, i've learnt a fair bit about the costs involved this week and have just agreed a fairly substantial feenearer the middle of that scale for a VJ for the event. And he is being very nice :o
moving forward, if anyone would like to get in touch for future events please do...we have one venue with equipment. I have managed to get the Eclectic Method crew to do our Xmas party there which I am delighted about...there should be another in January
Thanks for all the tips
Simon
