Word Mondo! It was a great event, fantastic to put faces to names and chatter with folks IRL! Massjam was a hoot, and, as mondo says - that sound system , mmmmm! Bought myself a V4 and am about to spend the entire day fiddling with it. Huge respect to all involved in making it actually happen - no small feat - thanks!

Congratulations to all involved in making AVIT Brighton such an amazing event. I had the best of times getting to know new faces and meeting old friends, seeing and hearing inspiring stuff all around and generally having a great time. Wish I could have seen some of the other workshops but I can't afford a clone of myself yet.
Not to knock last year's efforts but this year raised the bar incredibly, amazing how things can progress in one year.
Big thanks to everybody involved, I'm sure you are all exhausted by now.
PS I missed the awards unfortunately .. what happened there??

...back home & just about to drop asleep so i'll keep this short. (as promised a more detailed feedback will follow asap ... so nobody has to kick my ass ;) ).
for me avit has been (in no particular order :) ) inspiring, eye opening, encouraging, controversial, frustrating, fun, surreal, convincing, revealing, educational, hospitable, excellent, dissapointing, exceptional,.... (i really could go on for ever).
so many different people with this same passion getting together & all the positive vibes everywhere were truly amazing. getting to know so many of you in person - for me - was the best part of it all!
avit has given me so much new inspiration, courage & energy!
...in short: what an absolutely incredible & unforgettable weekend this has truly been!
THANK YOU SOoooo MUCH EVERYBODY WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN

It's so good to see all these positive comments! It makes the hard work worthwhile. Cheers Guys.
As expected, some parts of the event didn't go as well as we hoped (but have taught us some valuable lessons) while other parts exceeded our expectations.
Thankyou to everyone who came and made the event what it was - the success of an event like this really is down to the people who come along and participate, whether it be by performing, sharing their knowledge or just being part of an appeciative audience.
Onwards and upwards!
Dan.

Well done to all the avit core people for pulling it of with all the limitations you had to face.

The stream was the greatest gift I could have asked for as I could still make it to AVIT -->>kinda'. The stream is a must have (obviously AVIT is more important but still). It will make AVIT and the community grow exponentially.
Now if someone could take comments via VJC chat during the streaming discussions. Oh my! That would be to good to be true.
Maybe have people post pictures of themselves so they're image could be brought up on projectors when they are virtual speaking.
THis AVIT was next level and I was only there virtually.

Streaming / online involvement is definitely the way forward.
I have dreams of quotes from real time chat being grabbed and displayed in custom flash movies on the projector in the discussion room, so that everyone there can see what the people online are saying.
We've also talked about hiring some professional typists to enter full transcripts of discussions as they happen, so that people can read them online live or download them later.
Something that occured to me last night as I recovered from AVIT was that there is no reason why we couldn't hold an online AVIT, with streamed performances, discussions on specific topics in chat rooms, a 'virtual trade fair', hopefully some online collabortive works and so on.
The possibilities for linking real world events with the rest of the world are endless, and not too impractical.

Fantastic! A big thanks to everyone involved from john and ronnie of auvica. We've not really been involved with the community up until now, but both of us have come away from the conference with fresh ideas and inspirations and wanting to get much more involved in the future.
As much as anything it was great to meet so many amazing people. I think VJ parties are the way forward! Much more fun!
Hope to meet up with more of you in the near future.
Much love & respect
John

Just like to say a big thanks to all involved with this years avit.
The crew did well to get it going and keep it organised, well done guys.
I enjoyed myself immensly and met some really really good people,
which I wasn't expecting for an opinionated ginger grump like myself,
So big respect to you allthe hard working [crew, events, staff, volounters]
from my bitter and twisted Scotish heart.
I also would like to say a big thanks to all the talented software designers that I met at the weekend, pilgrim, flowmotion, the audiovisualisers etc, you really opened my eyes with your enthusiasm and dedication and I truly hope you all get your beat synching down to the enthmillisecond with or without the 53 millisecond psychic front lobe delay detector.
And to all those people that came up to me after my 45min basic channel meets alaistair crowley video audio meltdown and made their opinion known to me and made personal contact I'd like to say a big big thanks...it's for peole like you I do what I do...and it really means a lot to me that you appreciated the effort, originality and presentation of my audio synched motion graphics,
if you didn't catch my REAL a/v set then ask those who did and what they thought......a little bit more than a superstar vj, dj'ing and vjing together, I always assumed a/v ment...i.e self created AUDIO and VIDEO together creating a new a/v format/viewing/listening experience....maybe I'm wrong please tell me.
The sampling debate was good fun and good to see opinions are
appreciated, good to see peoples points ov view and stances on creativity,
and to see vj's and artists with a sense ov humour as well, mondo, yeast, two different sides but highly entertaining.
A big thanks to all the people who turned up for my after effects rant/workshop on saturday I hope I managed to help you with your creativity and shown you that after effects isnt a scary as you first thought.
remember kids, take responsibility for your own a/v output,
and be creative. ; )
till nxt time

A truely awesome event.
Sucha grand scale of things and to the most part (esp the daytime) pulled of brillantly.
Of course things went wrong....but that if for another post add my brand of expected constructive critism to it all (Well you would not expect anything less :) ) :)
Meet some great people and I now can put soooo many faces to avaters and VJ names. Still in a sense of awe over the weekend.:yep:

aye big up to one and all that made it happen you were great :yep: shame i was so crap and couldn't help more, and my set was below par, think i'm going of the idea of mass rigs idea's no time/space to have your full kit riged up, and doing it in the dark is allways a plesure with s-video cabels, but once again big up to one and all for makeing it happen:D

heh, well not everyone who makes a difference was there, but just looking at the progression from leeds, through chicago and berlin to this, i think we can be confident that avit is a growing force and the future will hold many delights - so from all this positivity, come on people make it happen! AVIT is by the community, for the community... so whatcha' gonna pull off in your home town?

:yep: i had an amazing time there, will never be able to pay back the debt to the avitcore and everyone else for having made all this possible. i've got so many ideas and inspiration that i can't wait to come back home and put all this into practice. just sad not have talked with everyone as much as i would have liked but oh well hopefully at next avit :D and sorry if i was a bit weird on the sunday afterparty but i think i had pushed the limits of sleep deprivation a bit too far with only 10 hours of sleep over 5 days :help:
