Ok, VDMX, at list one. VDMX is hard to deal with, it is not real time punching as Arkaos, if VDMX had midi keyboard controlling it would be a very nice software, may be almost everything in one.

Hey vjrei!

VDMXX has wicked midi support. Every button / vfo in the interface is now midi assignable.

Check out Johnny's talk on node based software at AVIT.

ok so vidvox and midi like hang out on the weekends and shit, meaning, midi is very integrated into all vidvox products. any control in vdmx can be linked to midi or your computer's keyboard by command clicking the function and then pressing the key (or turning the knob, sliding the slider, etc).

what you, djrei, want to do might be more along the lines of key=play clip, which grid, or the upcoming grid pro, can do. in vdmx, it currently does not have a way to link a clip with key (maybe in an upcoming module????), but you can link a key with other things to get a similar effect. here's how:

in your "clip bin" or whatever they call it, you have clips. next to that is a +, -, and rnd button. you can link keys to those buttons, and there control clips like such, but not link the clip to the key itself.

i'm sure this will not be an issue soon as the software/products get more modularized and you will be able to by the vdmx with the features you need, or just buy the features later and add them in. i think the lines between the mixer-styler program and triggering-style program will also begin to blur as this happens. soon you will probably be able to use grid as your clip bin instead of the traditional vdmx clip bin, but anyway... remember prophet? prophet, which was a key-to-clip program essentially, was vidvox's first product, so they know whats up with these features. if you have some requests like this, be sure to tell them or post them in the forums here. they will listen.

SO, to sum up. midi keys or keyboard keys in vdmx: command-click on the function and then press the key. the workaround for no key->clip function is the +, -, rnd buttons in vdmx. grid does what you want. vidvox=great. and no, i dont work for them, heheh.

I'm using Arkaos for that. I'm not in to asigning parameter to knobs, it is very fun to do but trigering from the keyboard is a must for me, specially when I'm working with techno music DJs.

VDMX has a wonderful output, even with my 8MB of Vram it looks 30fps. But it is not my priomary software at all, I rather use Motion Dive instead. Motion Dive is more for playing and having fun, VDMX is more technical oriented which is very good but in my case no as a primary software yet.
