Turn it on... plug a cam (or something) into each input in turn and check both preview and final output for signal, randomly test a few transitions and FX..... run it through its demo mode (as far as I know it doesn't have a self test mode). Test audio if you want to use that part of it.... be sure to check the T-bar is working well and all the buttons work when pressed and don't stick.

A fucked t-bar??? In what way??? there is quite a lag on the t-bar on the MX-1 do not mistake that for being fucked, and there are ways around it... if your doing fast switching/cutting off the t-bar your living in the dark ages... that is handle better (by far) in software these days.

I'm getting kind of angry at Videonics right now... :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:
Some month ago I had to send my MX-1 to the swiss distributor to fix it. He sent me an exchange one for 180US$. When I got it back It worked 2 times and the everytime I was doing a transition the image was turning to green.

At the same time I bought on the internet an other second hand MX-1 through e-bay.
When I got it I found that when I was using the Tbar I had black lines on image and it was looking pretty bad...
So I sent it back to the swiss videonics distributor who sent me an exchange one for 180US$.
When I got it back I found (just before an event) that chanel one on the mixer was not working (I was lucky that exhale took his mixer just in case...)
:grrr:

Now after telling the guy that it's still not working he wrote me an e-mail to sent him back the 2 MX-1....(everytime I have to pay to send the mixer by post...and II hope this time he won't ask me to pay 360US$ to get 2 other mixer that may not work...)
:grrr:

So check that it's working well before buying it...

But it's not the same with every MX-1. exhale got his mixer before me and he never had any problems..

Yeah can't say I have ever heard of anyone having so many problems with them.... I have worked with over half a dozen over here and never even heard of these sort of problems.... guess its the luck of the draw :(

The t-bar was definitely fucked - it just didn't work (maybe one in ten times)

Another question - is there a realtime response on t-bar in ave55 or is it like in mx-1?

how should i test ave55??

thanx :-)

All the panasonics have very fast response on the T-bar (nothing like the MX-1 lag).

Also the lag on the MX-1 is only @ the begining and end of its travel, when in the middle is as resonsive as any mixer. THis is due to the way the hardware works with the software element of the mixer.

HUH???

One of your inputs has a black border??? is the border on the signal itself or does it only come up when you run it threw the MX1... have to admit i haven't heard of this problem b4.

most of the time the black border comes from your scan converter (or maybe your tv-out card). the black border is perfect for TV but for projectors it's a waste of space.

Yeah thats what I was getting @ X...... just wanted to confirm it was like that b4 it hit the MX1.

Hmmm ok having just read coon's post on the scan convertor thread, it looks like his scan convertor is underscan which is definately where ih black boarder is coming from.

Coon to fix the problem you need to find the overscan function on your scan convertor, or if you pasted the text (which from the look of it you did) then your convertor may not have over0scan in which case you can do nothing about it but pick up a new scan convertor with overscan.....

Hi all,

about the service from videonics. Well actually Focus Enhancement. Up to now they have given me great support! No problems what so ever. I wish every company would be the same. So i doubt it if your reseller has send it to Focus. But i can't tell you for sure ofcourse

But no problems with videonic/focus here in the Netherlands and great support from their main office in America.

gr,
