hey WOOO HOOOOO Just got my ticket today, and *most* arrangements made. CANT WAIT!!! stoked!!stoked:jump:

what i was wondering was, how many other NTSC people will be coming? and should we talk about pooling equipment rather than a bunch of people lugging the same things 4-7000 miles?

cant wait!!!

pixy here,
you can use my V5 ntsc, and/or V4's will do NTSC, so all you really need is monitors and computers DVD decks/VHS..

its worth noting that DVD decks and computers can be switched to play PAL no problem...depending on your kit, you wouldn't necessarily have to stay at NTSC! switch to PAL and party like the natives..

I've been asked about my bold statement above..

for switching to PAL, every video card and DVD deck I've seen switches!!..on DVD players I've always seen a button on the remote that has P/N which toggles between the two...my decks also have a setting in the menus where you can set the default standard...so you don't have to switch it everytime you turn it on...
laptops/computers..of course this is going to be different depending on what graphics chipset you have..but again *somewhere* in the advanced settings for the display you'll find a place where you can determine the TV standard..sometimes they'll have it set up where its not obviously PAL/NTSC...but where you say what country you're in and it knows what the local standard is (you'd switch to U.K.!)

how do I know this?? Because of the Rebelle being PAL only...I'm a bit of a PAL island in a sea of NTSC here in Wisconsin so I've had to figure this stuff out...

ok... hoping that this is going to work..... getting ready to leave montreal... what do y'all think? I'm bringing down 3 dvd players (all ntsc) as well as my ave5 (ntsc) and i have this Emerson NTSC>Pal converter.(EVC 1550).. been thinking that this will be able to plug into the beamers... or into someone's PAL V4

please tell me that this will work....

yeah that should work, mang..
then you'd keep all your stuff in NTSC and just put the converter on your main o/p..
have you checked out what the o/p from the converter looks like? I have whats supposed to be a real nice convertor from Tenlab...but the colors get all fucked through it...

that should work lilcat,

were still working on the scheduling for the mass jam, depending whos using ntsc we might set up a ntsc rig, and have the converter last in the chain b4 the matrix

lilcat, if you're just mixing off dvd decks, do they switch to PAL? wouldn't it be easier to just bring them and source a pal mixer over there? maybe you've already considered that and ruled it out..

thanks all-- lev i think, not 100% sure on this, but if you switch one of our (NTSC) dvd players over to pal it lets u play pal dvds on a pal tv, but i dont believe that it converts... just ambidextreous. now that little emerson... hope that it will do the thing!

fingers crossed and thinking up (understandableto a border guard) reasons as to why i'm packing all this gear... wheeeeeeee.....

LEVLHED

i'll be there too . i've been trying to figure the NTSC to PAL thing out as well . don't most projectors have the ability to switch between both if needed ?

LEVLHED
15th October 2003, 05:18 AM

i'll be there on Tuesday and i think we're staying at the " Old Ship Hotel " . i predict fun , followed by some mayham with a dash of madness . i'm really interested to see everyones work first hand , and to put a person to everybodies name , it's going to be trippy .
