DVD rack to firewire 800 solution

Hello, I'm working on putting together a DVD rack with 3 or 4 dvd players that outputs to firewire 800 and goes into a macbook pro and then into VDMX. I'm planning on having the dvd players connected to a HDMI switcher, and then somehow converting to firewire 800, if that even exists...

What I'm wondering is, has anyone done something like this and gotten the signal into a macbook pro's firewire 800 port? Does it even work after conversion of HDMI to firewire 800?

Any tips on rack mount dvd systems going into firewire 800 ports would be much appreciated.

avoid hdmi
its inherent copy protection might trip you up.

I'd run composite into a switcher then via usb capture into VDMX
the DC60+ is supposed to work well.
