Hi

I am looking to team up with other VJ's in the UK Midlands area

I have been working in clubs since 93 in various Technical areas including my first VJ'ing in 94 with two 486 DX2's running Fractint, Cthugha, and FLIC players.............. Oh dem were da days.......LOL

I have worked with three top club organisations and currently still do.

I have a basic setup and a modest library, good ideas and good contacts.

Any collectives in the area looking for members I would be interested.

Hello :)

Im in the midlands, but havent actually started doing shows yet. Been investigating software and trying to build up a library over the last 18 months, taking it slow!

Theres three of us here in crappy Nuneaton working on this, we're trying to emphasise the live interactive aspect of shows using midi equipment to control the show aspects, and have plans o build all sorts of weird hardware, but as ever time is the killer, its taking forever. So many ideas though!

Also looking at the possibility of working with live musicians and collaborating that way, but thats almost a seperate thing as its not really connected to the club VJ side of things.

What software you using at the moment? Using visualJockey here mostly.

Anyway if you wanna chat more, drop us a line, steve@dvmachine.com , even if nothing works out, it would be great to hear if you do track any VJ's down in the Midlands, I havent a clue who is active in this area!

Cheers :)

I'm based in the midlands too (for the while). In Warkwickshire. I haven't actually managed to do any gigs here though. Most of the work seems to come from London & Devon(!?!!).

Would be interested to see you guys do some stuff. Drop me a message when ur next playing.

Ben.

Nice website......

Yeh there doesn't seem to be a whole lot going on round here but then that makes it more tempting:-) . All my work to date has been video creation for some brand dance organisations who were in the Midlands but have since moved on. Now I am eager to get into the live side again after some years out of it and I suppose waiting for hardware and software to evolve.

Just working on expanding my library ATM about 70 odd clips to date, mostly apropriated but very subtle selections :-)

I am thinking of going back to college in September and hope to meet people there also.......... oddly enough you don't actually meet many people in the actual club scene.

I suppose I am looking to meet people from a more art and design background as I come from a more technical career path........It's a balance thing.

i always offer guest slots to ppl who can show they'll do the business...

residencies are currently
prosession, bar/club, birmingham, 1st friday monthly.
detonation, all-nighter, nottingham, 1st saturday monthly, term time.

both are d'n'b, i welcome all styles but the content has gotta have an edge and intensity to it, and shall we say psychadelia is out?

i now work purely off my laptop, so if you've gotta bring a rig thats cool but i'll have to know...

cheers,

toby

to see prosession, check out http://www.prosession.co.uk/events/2002/july_2002_vrimage.php

Yeah, I'm Birmingham based, as part of http://www.PsiconLab.co.uk. I'm all up for collaborating and getting involved. Been involved for about a year, done some live events. Got a background in performance/video/installation/sound art, DJing & Music production.

Anyway I'm off to meet Spark ... :)

It would be a good idea for all the midland vj's to get together, it's a shame i didn't know about this forum till today, as it would of been cool to get together at global gathering last weekend.

There was 7 arenas, all had big screens.. Our tent.. Accelerated culter (helter skelter/sidewinder) was the only self rigged screens, the others were rigged by the lighting crew and guest vj's hired to drive them

Maybe someone could suggest a venue to meet up?

Midlands VJ site network anyone? Since we're all present and correct, it seems only natural the first thing to do (apart from arrange meetings with the others) is to put up a Midlands VJs links page, to promote each other and get that good old community spirit going...

Well, It's an idea... :p

Currently I am working in the business full time for Gatecrasher in Sheffield so I have little or no time to actually do any work apart from work if you get my meaning.

I like the idea of a website for Midlands based Vj's that should be looked at seriously.

Spark - I am in Nottingham we should get in touch

Hi everyone,

I do visuals stuff in Birmingam - under the name SyZyGy

Like Spark, I work for prosession (I do their bi-monthly special events, usually 3rd Friday of the month)

I also do stuff for:

Heducation (Thursdays - Hip Hop)
Shaanti (Monthly - last Friday of the month - Asian Underground)
Some one off events
A night in London (Roadblock - Drum and Bass)

If anyone wants to come to any of these nights then let me know and I'll sort out guestlist places.

I'm well up for collaborating with other VJs, whether on live shows or on creating material.

Lets get together sometime and talk visuals!

Dan.

Creative Underground - Birmingham UK - Forum (http://pub34.ezboard.com/bflyinggrannies)

This Forum is also known as The Anti-Nation of Crab. It is a meeting place for artists, musicians, designers and event holders to chat about how to boost Birmingham & surrounds creative community, get work, and make contacts.

At the moment it's in it's infancy, so please get involved and help kick this thing off!

Looks interesting - I'm in the process of registering now. Maybe some interesting links will be made into the wider Midlands art scene...
