has got me thinking because i've just got a resandcy on an old skool tune tip, and i spent most of last night playing catch up with the tunes/dj's, which were so cool, by the way its grate to be vj'ing to tunes you used to get munterd to when you were yonger, lol, anyway what struck me was it's realy not like doing a techno/trance/house whatever night because there is no conitinuation of style, one minate your playing along to hip hop the next some clasic euro hose thing, so what i want to know is how the f**k can you have a narative to that ?

you set yourself up with a library of related clips - say 12-14
ie. animals, space, skateboarding, war, boxing, i dunno whatever you fancy

then kick into one of those when the music changes.

the narritive usually continues by teh overlaying of one image into teh next musical genre - though admittedly it can get disjointed when your in indian territory and teh music hits trance or hiphop- but im sure visually there is a segue somewhere there (i cant think of one now!)

btw its also hard when it all goes psytrance - but then the colourwheel comes out hahahaha. (thinks - more trippy visuals needed or a different gig!!)

usually i ask teh dj which way hes going and plan accordingly first - but hey - its all fun when we get it wrong and right!

eg. found the clips to play to psycho killer - talking heads by fluke jamming the wrong library - damned if i could repeat that one again!
have a good w/e:yep: enjoy

ok so your saying that the tunes are too diverse and therefore you you are unable to pick diverse enough stories to fit with the music.

a narrative can be just as eclectic as the music, just need to approach the overall idea a bit differently and have a structure to pin it togther. this boils down to your own style i guess but i`d probaly film a whole concept in a hotel with the camera walking around the corridors. then in different rooms of the hotel i have a different stories for different musical styles, within that you can be pretty diverse yet still have THE "story structure"

Just think about it unj. there are many possibilities to link narratives together however diverse.
