Ok,

Looking for a device that will generate colours which I can then use to test my circuits or drive screens. RGB out or composite out would be ideal.

Thanks,
Alan Geering

You could use a Cinema Disk (http://www.hotmp3gear.com/Cinemadisk.htm) to do this.

You would create the patterns/bars/whatever that you want to use as MPEG2 files, upload them to it and then take it with you under battery power to wherever you need it.

It does composite and S-Video out.

Nice idea. I'd not thought of that.

Should explain what I'm going to use it for:

Use 1: Controling 20 to 60 monitors during a stage musical.
Only problem I have is that all the monitors ahve to change with the action on stage. Life would be so much simpler if I didn't have actors to deal with! In this case I would have to put a mixer/processor between the video disk and the distribution amp to be able to fade the signal.

Use 2: Testing video circuits I'm building. Pattern generator would provide the ultimate test... but you've just given me an idea. I'm going to make my video camera output colour bars for testing with.

Thanks,
Alan

PS still open to any offers of colour generators or pattern generators
