hmmm i'm no expert in video mixers but this one seems to have way more functions than you'll ever need. for example i don't see how you'd use a 99-page titler in a live situation ;) did you check the mixers reviews at vjcentral?

this thing is rubbish it doesn't mix two sources together it just fades one source to black (or one of 8 colours)

for good cheap video mixers look out for a panasonic av 5

theres a review on vjcentral

yeah indeed :p but they have to signup through vjcentral, i thought it would be enough to make them realize there was another site :) maybe i should put the vjcentral menu at the top of vjforums but i'm afraid it makes the pages too long to load.

yep, there out of production, i acquired 2 of 3 units thru ebay
for about 150 euro each.
i don't know where WellREDman from Brighton bought his unit, but i don't think he went to the continent 4 it.

and the best documentation on the dvm is there @ vjcentral yet.

just the text menu headlines? really?

and would be worth the time and effort, heh heh :)

You mean, putting the menu only on the main page?

This menu seems rather simple but if you go to a VJC page and look at the source code, you see that the whole menu code takes a lot of lines, between 1/5 and 1/3 of the code depending on the size of the page... For people on a dialup connection (like me at the moment, aaarggh!), it can make quite a change.

due to the "made with macromedia" layer dropdowns i guess :)
well, as i meant to say in my last post, i don't really want to change the current state, so what about creating a newbie
sec on vjc?

Why not put a text based VJ Central menu BELOW the posts and a reference to VJC on the top

VJCENTRAL.COM > VJFORUMS.COM > TECHNIQUES > HARDWARE > BOY HAVE WE TAKEN A SIDETRACK FROM THE TOPIC HERE

&&& @ the bottom:

something a lot like:

SOFTWARE_REVIEWS|HARDWARE_REVIEWS... etc

Also I think there are a fair number of tweks you can make to the Macromedia code to make them A LOT shorter
