Since concepts in audio and video are so closely linked we can easily apply the following theories and techniques to own own unique styles of VJing (or whatever it is YOU do):

preface: IMHO

I believe there is no other state of mind as satisfying, beautiful, or truthful as a trance induced state. It is in this state that individuals are forced to confront/become aware of the ineffable, causing deep introspection and in certain cases positive, life-long changes.

Knowledge of trance induction theory is necessary if one plans to bring others into this state of Eternity. I believe it is a key element in opening up the group to the heart and mind of the Divine, which to me is the goal of life itself. It equates to group worship in my thinking, and nothing is more satisfying.

Perception of ultimate reality is what drives every artist not to mention every thought/action of every human who has ever lived. It is this perception that shows through any facade.

to quote the first article:
"At the point that a deep trance is produced, subliminal messages could be introduced with effectiveness. The content of the suggestions should be carefully crafted to empower. Suggestions will also affect the music producer."

and here is a specific reference to what we do as VJs (from the second article):
"Visualizations and physical movements can be combined with mantra yoga to produce multiple dissociated trance planes. "

-------------------------------

As for me, the ideal state of mind and being derive from the visions I've had of the metaphysical and the beliefs that have formed out of these experiences. I strive to recreate and maintain that state through my chosen artistic medium. Without this aspect, I believe the art I create is bound to the earth and the limits thereof.

But hey..........that's just my me ;)
