Hi all, basically asking a favour I guess, see what you think...

Had a last minute request to shoot some video with friends at a swimming pool with a big PA rig as a prop.
Have plenty of PR photos and pics of the band, an arty electronic song duo fronted by uber hippy-chick and sage wizard, signed and sorted to a label and needing pre-BBC promo videos.
It's happening near Banstead, near Sutton in Surrey, on private grounds.
Wanted to do something simple yet special, I used to be a VJ many years ago (using big ugly S-VHS/Umatic analog rigs back in 1992!) and looking to get back into the live stuff. I'm looking to shoot HDV on 2 cams, a three song EP with rehearsals/retakes, and time to play about with the lighting tech, and edit a nice series of videos for a very nice band.

If anyone is interested in helping out a last minute laid back Sunday shoot (around 1pm to 3 or 4pm latest??), and able to provide a projected feed of cool stuff for a couple of hours and work with laser rigs and mad ideas... well lets just say it would be a good opportunity for all concerned. :)

I guess I'm thinking projecting VJ'ed lyrics onto faces or instruments into minds, they have great synths and machines and lasers which is why I'm shooting it, plus they are all really nice people.
I'm not sure what's possible in the VJ world anymore, that's why I'm here hoping one or two of you might know. Anyway, it would be fun, above all.

Anyone up for some of that, get in touch - getkieron@lycos.com

May your cables last forever, and your rigs defy the weather. ;)

Cheers

edited to say - the swimming pool is empty. It's not one of those videos...

Is it an indoor pool capable of being blacked out? cuz if not, this just isn't gonna work. and thats just the projection aspect, your post hints at a whole host of other potential problems.
Are you really planning on shooting videos for 3 songs in 3 hours?

Yeah, it's all blacked out... and it's housing multi-colour laser systems.
You think I can't shoot what I need with VJ in 3 hours??
It'll be fine, I intend to shoot cutaways and sequencer animation myself later, I only wondered if there might be a VJ looking to make some good connections with good people... are you keen yourself??

When you say pre BBC can you explain? What is the bands name? I possibly would be interested but I'm in North Yorks unfortunately. If the band were at least willing to cover the expenses I would probably make the effort. What sort of material are you looking for exactly....you surely have a good idea or a storyboard...anything:) I could always chuck in a Sony Z1 if that's any help.

More info on material and the possiblity of the band/label meeting expenses would be cool please;)

I'll pay expenses myself, if it's petrol and food money, plus obligatory beers if you're not driving, so that's a given, I would never expect anyone to sweat a job for nothing!!

I can prepare the media you need in advance, if it's a question of pre-loading... I'd do it myself but I can't throw faders whilst shooting... thanks for the offer of a Z1 though, nice one, I'm OK with an FX-7 camera, not looking to shoot 2 cameras. It will be a cracking video regardless of any good VJ showing up, I just wondered if anyone fancied a gamble. ;)

Sorry to be all hush-hush about it but I don't want to give the band name away on a public forum at this stage, they're friends of mine and that should tell you enough about the band. ;) You've probably never heard of them, they're not huge but they are being talked up. We're all grown ups though, this isn't a nightmare where anything above the basic freestyle VJ talent is expected, just a bit of fun if anyone's local.
It's not for a record label, this is a private non-moneymaking thing!

Thanks for the call Kieron. All sounds interesting and worthwhile. If it's not going to be possible for me to get down I'm sure someone else, and perhaps more local from the forum, will step up for this one. The last band offer like this that I didn't take up ended up becoming rather successful:( Anyway, thanks again for getting in touch.
