hi, this is is my first post here.... not sure if this is a stupid question or not:
i'm organising an audio/visual night in a bar, and want to sort out some visuals for it. only problem is that the projector in the bar is set up to point right at the dj, with a screen mounted on the ceiling that can be pulled down, blocking off the dj completley!
just wondering, are there any semi see through materials that can be projected onto? some sort of ultra thin cloth or plastic maybe???? then that could be used, and you'd still be able to make out the dj behind the screen?
thanks

Plastic works pretty good.

You can take almost any kind of translucent material, anything that catch up light.
Plastic could work but you may need something more transparent than that. I do not know the name in English but that "stuff" that you use on the windows to avoid mosquitos to come in, that works really good. I saw a white one of those, it is like 3 feets by the lengh of the roll. Always se white colors only or fully transparent!!!
The other thing that works is the "stuff" brides uses on their wedding dress to hide their faces. There are several kinds of the same material and that catch up light very well and you are able to see thru it.
Now, remember the DJ is gonna play with a very anoying light projector in front of him, nothing can be done about it.

Just remember. Safety First!!! Make sure it's Fire Retardant.

cream or ivory voile will do, then light your dj from behind the screen...( pointing lights away from the screen of course!). treat the fabric with flambar, or another spray on flame retardant. if you have the projector's lens higher than the dj's eye level, it shouldnt blind them either.
u can buy voile anywhere that sells a range of fabric.

translucent cloroplast - it's a plastic sheet constructed like corrugated cardboard that comes in lots of colors including white and a translucent white . if you fame it out on the edges and hang them nicely you can rear projection onto them ( they come in 4ft buy 8ft sheets ) and they look like a million buck and only about ten . a good tip is to not project directly onto them but at a slight angle , so you don't get a center star for where the projector can be seen directly opposite .
