Hi all,

I done my first gig last week, and boy did I suffer.

The setup I was using was a powerful desktop with a Geforce 2 graphic card, the vga port was hooked up to the projector giving me a 1280 by 1024 image (Arkaos and Winamp looked really cool), the s-video output was connected to my mates 15" TV, which was used as a control book located on the 1st floor.

As I was using different apps (i.e. arkaos, winamp plugins, etc....) everytime I had to say change which winamp plugin I was using I had to freeze the projector screen, run up to the office change plugins and then run down and unfreeze the projector.

Now reading through this site (and boy has it been useful) I should go out and buy a scan convertor, two things come to mind to get a decent one it seems quite expensive and two they seem to be used mainly to convert to s-video. S-video is good for video but with winamp plugins they dont look as good as 1280 by 1024 on a big projector screen.

What I plan to do is buy a Gainward AGP GeForce2 MX-400 32MB
Twin View, which has dual vga outputs but this still leaves me with the same problem of freezing the projector before I can make changes.

Wow, need to stop talking and get to the point.

Can someone please help with the following questions:

1) Does twinview (nvida sw) allow me to output to the projector at fullscreen while the monitor can be used for controling apps (i.e. winamp plugins, arkaos, etc....)?

2) Can anyone possibly give some feedback on the setup I suggested?

3) I thinking of adding a second projector, I plan to use the vga out port on my projector, ghas anyone tried this and have you had a drop in performance?

Thanks in advance for any help,

PS If you got this far by gum cheers:

can't help you with the GeForce questions (someone here will though).
I would recommend that instead of buying a second projecter, you buy a video mixer (check vjcentral for reviews of some of the options out there). Having a video mixer will let you keep from having to freeze your beamer, instead you can just switch to another source (like a pre-recorded VHS) while you mess w/ the PC.
As for going down to S-vid, thats just what we do. Yes, you take a hit on rez, but in exchange you can MIX. Having a mixer will go along ways towards helping you make original content also.

In about 3 weeks we'll be releasing SoftScan, which a software scan converter far under the line of most scan converters. Works fine for Winamp (two of our test cases are AVS and Mocha, a very nice winamp plugin). If you have a dual head card that goes out to Composite or S-Video (a lot of the NVidia's do this, yours included I think.... if not just ask the guy you buy it from and find one that does), then SoftScan will be able to output this section of the screen while allowing simultaneous control. It will also offer area AVI-capture, so as to allow you to make a clip of something from Winamp and run it in ArKaos.
