My band has recently switched formats to a hard-tech/industrial dance format and we are currently recording a song and video in this format (our third song)

When finished, and Providing some VJ wants to use this song, should I make a disc full of video partials/loops in hopes that the VJ would incorporate them? (like a video remix kit, for lack of better terms, so that the VJ may want to incorporate some of the video)

Thanks In Advance

if you are thinking of supplying it to a vj that may accompany your live performances, then id supply it in two ways:

1) the complete video ( if possible on a dvd )
2) the component parts

this allows a lot more creativity on behalf of the vj and lets them create smething a bit more unique for you incorporating thier own style.

Hi thanks for responding...I think I was editing my post above while you answered. We cant really play live (Hit the link in my sig and you'll understand why :D) The idea I was thinking of was making a disc of video partials/loops from the master video (as well as the completed video)....kind of like a video remix kit that the VJ could use all, some, or none of if he/she so chooses
If I did this, what would be the best format? (DVD or data disk with MP4, AVI, etc)

The cool part (for me, anyway) would be including loops of the footage thats not used in the video and seeing what people come up with if they decide to use it

If the video is made from layered content and/or digital media, it might be nice to supply the layers/media separately so they can be remixed in different combinations and/or with other content.

Tip noted! Thank You. Will do!

In the last video, which is a retro-80s sounding tune, I used a bunch of free loops I found at a public domain site and, even though I checked the liscencing, i still would feel weird redistributing something that isnt mine

However, For this new song/video, Im using assorted programs, including Whorld to do my own media. I can include the media made from those... I guess I could include the .whl files as well so people can adjust those if they want to if they use Whorld.

In that case, a note on where to obtain the ("original") content should be fine.

I was tempted to ask before, and now more tempted by "so people can adjust those if they want to.." - are you planning to release contet to VJs generally, or are you just talking about whoever you get to perform for your shows?

I want to release content to VJs...basically, Im trying to explore new territory - Im interested if VJs would be interested in both audio and visual remix kits the way I have gotten remix kits in the past for just music. The VJ pretty much has creative liscence to manipulate whatever he/she chooses.

I guess Im trying to ascertain if there would be interest in this

Ahh, I see. I thought you may have meant something along those lines, but you didn't explicitly say so.

I suppose it might be of most interest to people who do A/V (audio and video), mashups, etc, though it seems these people usually use whatever they like without requesting permission anyhow, because almost nothing comes with permission. :D

I guess the thing to do is to start getting this together and, providing approval by the moderators of this forum, I'll post a thread in a few weeks asking if anyone wants to recieve one of these remix kits - either audio, video, or both
