Hi All,

I am working for an acclaimed Bollywood composer who has had international success with his band Bollywood Pandits.

He will be touring in Oman between 20th March - 25th March 2010, where he and his band will be performing to honored guests which include the Royal Family of Oman.

There is an opening for a Video DJ, who will tour with the group in Oman. The lucky individual will have flights, accomodation and meals arranged on their behalf.
We are looking for someone with experience in the Video Djing space who is passionate about working alongside revered Bollywood artists.

The position could lead to a permanent role within the band's team of DJ's, technicians and engineers. If anyone is interested please PM or contact me via email on: dineshmurugeshwarren@googlemail.com (murugesh_30@hotmail.com)

Also if there are any better websites/forums to advertise this role I am open to your suggestions.

Thanks,

D.

just got back from oman, after the gigs that are mentioned in this thread.

here's a little bit about the trip (deepvisual - not sure i can rival your story telling that we all enjoy so much..but here goes..:))
what an amazing experience. the band members that make up the bollywood pandits are the nicest bunch of people ever, who welcomed me in as a family member. all together we were group of 27 people, including a sound engineer, makeup artist, 12 dancers, choreographer and the 10 piece band. you can imagine the hassle of even getting us through heathrow checkin (excess baggage was £3500), and all the subsequent airports, shuffling around, and stuff like that.
arriving in muscat, we had 2 days before the first event, which was open air in a palace 1 hour drive into the desert. i had worked with the band about the visuals over the previous weeks. as their music is a collections of tunes from bollywood films, we included samples from these films at certain points, mixed with my own visuals, indian style imagery and patterns, and a few custom shoots i did of a bellydancer, and tabla player. there was a day to rehearse, and then we had the gig, which was attended by dignitries and specially invited guests. (this whole trip was funded by the omani tourist board). the event went really well. the band are in my opinion great. musically tight, all very talented musicians and singers. the whole show, of music, visuals and dancers, offered a great spectacle for the audience. we had discussed before about having to be careful with the visuals on the screens, being in a strict islamic country, (so many of my lovely dancing girls stayed well hidden on my hard drive:)) but we got one warning as someone noticed some alcohol bottles featured in the background of a sample from a bollywood film.
as with a band on tour, there was little sleep and lots of late night phone calls to room service, and we partied hard. the shisha smoke bar next to the hotel offered a hidden side to oman, where we drank, smoked and scatily clad women danced and sang bad kareoke to a few men.

the band were all indvidual unique and highly amusing characters. a mixture of young guys and seasoned touring veterans. the sound guy who flew in from india usually works with the grammy award winning AR rahman, the percusionist - 2 world tours with dire straits. the band leader kiran, having worked with countless huge artists throughout his 25 year career.

we next flew across the country to salalah. cue another bit of mayhem to get us all to airport in time, as we all queued to clear room service bills:)

after the dusty arid landscapes around muscat, salalah is a lot more lush and tropical. we were checked into an awesome 5* beach side hotel. i think the rooms were just divided out randomly. so i took my key to the 5th floor and arrived at room 503 - the muscat royal suite! another band member had the other room in our suite, which had a lovely living room, leading off to two huge bedrooms. on the back of the bathroom door (where i got lost in the shower) i saw the price list - this room was about £1000 a night!

the second gig was in a huge venue space. we played on the same day as arriving. the band were great again and my visuals set was a lot tighter than the first gig, with the clips flowing nicely for each tune.

so a party after the gig in our neighbours other royal suite till the small hours. then some time the next day to visit the town, jump about in the arabian sea, with awesome waves. a bit of stress to get us to the airport in time for our night flight, and a bit of a long winded 3 flight, 19 hour route via qatar, back to london, we finally arrived home, all incredibly exhausted, and i think elated at our unique trip.. made 20 new indian facebook friends today:). and im going to have to learn some gujrati words for the next tour i think...

photos coming soon.
