Expo Leeds Wants You!
Call For Volunteers and Stewards Now Open!
Come and be involved in Sonic Art Festival Expo Leeds
Expo Leeds 24-29 September 2009
Presented by Sound and Music and MAAP
Expo is the hub and playground of the experimental music and sound art scene in the UK and beyond. Free and open, the event mobilises a national network of artists and engages with communities from all backgrounds – placing sonic art and the people who make it in direct contact with the public. Expo steps out from traditional venues and into spaces that lie at the heart of the community - inspiring practitioners and the public to reconsider their environments.
The weekend aims to highlight the broadest possible range of approaches and thinking that surround the sonic arts, showcasing work from international artists to young people, students and emerging artists from the UK.
Expo will land in Leeds in September 09 for a long weekend of performance, exhibition and presentation that will take place across a variety of physical and virtual spaces.
We’re looking to recruit volunteer stewards for our events across Leeds. If you have an interest in sonic art, experimental sound art and installation we want to hear from you!
We are seeking volunteers to assist with various aspects of the festival including:
- invigilation of installations
- assistance at live performance and evening events
- runners for technical set-ups prior to and during the festival
- video documentation of the festival weekend
- photography documentation of the festival
Stewards will act as the public face of the festival, and will be the primary information point for visitors and the public. All levels of experience are welcome, as full training will be provided.
There are a various shifts available to suit you, all situated in venues in Leeds city centre and surrounding areas. Full training and support will be given prior to the festival and throughout. Training and socials will take place from mid September.
If you are available during the weekend of 24-29 September and would like to be involved, drop us a line via the contact details below, specifying if you have a particular area of interest or experience (technical set up, event stewarding etc):
