I'm working with Lingo making software than can jump between video, image manipulation, text, animation, live relays and 3Dgfx. Anyone else out there working with Director 8.5, so we can swap recipies?
ANy advice on optimising AVIs also welcomed. And organic sprite manipulation (wobbles, stretches, decays) formulas /ideas would be invaluable.

I use Director for visuals,
but only to triger Flash loops at the moment...
so can't help too too much on actually distorting
the video surface of your .avi via lingo
Maybe you've been there before but check out
http://www.setpixel.com/
they've got a lot of neet imaging lingo tricks!
hope this helped,

Cheers! I'd forgotten about set pixel... Wicked stuff.. You should really give director a try for manipulating imagery- I found Flash incredibly stifling to use. But then i love pixels not vectors....

I've started to use flash to customize my own text layers in motionDive
Yes I finally found a Japanese VJ that would translate the manual for me...!

I'm currently developing a VJ toll with Director 8.5 as my final research project at SAE Technology institute in London. I'm a bit behind schedule, but the beta should be finished in two weeks.
I'll send you a copy (Visulator 2.0), if you want to join the board of beta testers.

hi coderz,
i was bored tonight and made this with lingo www.vju-tv.net/8bit-volume001.exe (~2.5mb)
it listens the recording input (that you can set in your audio mixer) and displays the volume as "bit dots"...
sad thing it uses a commercial "audioin" xtra (http://63.203.49.62/~PhysicalBits/Xtras/Detailed/GSILXtra.htm) and i didn't get it to work in shockwave ?!, but projector works...
if some1 knows any freeware audioin/analyze xtras PLEASE let me know
thnx

there's AS FFT xtra that listens directly to whatever your sound card is channeled into (mic, CD...)
http://www.as-ci.net/asDownLoads.html
it comes with some OK demos.
as I said before I've used Director extensively
but not recently for sound so they might be some new xtras
I'm not aware of...
A good place to start would be the macromedia Xtras list:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/xtras/director/
good luck,
