Top 40 club visuals?

I just got a residency at a top 40 night and i have been given no theme i'm fairly lost as to what i should go for. i have another residency at a heavenly themed night where i use buddhist, christian, angelic, ect... clips. but top 40 isn't really a theme, and i don't know what these kind of people would be appeased by. i imagine if you listen to top 40 pop music then you're prolly not to intellectual and would be amused by jackass type footage, skateboard footage and hot sexy lady footage... fuck i have the feeling if i put on espn the crowd would be content... but really any suggestions?

chances are the punters there are complete VJ-virgins, so you should be able to just play all the old shit everyone else is tired of...

I'd just go for a wide variety of clips.. pop-culture stuff, In the UK I'd also think about using band video.. you can have a lot of fun filming bands at your local small rock venue/upstairs room at a pub. some very amusing shots.. but the states is dominated by r'n'b in the charts isn't it? so I'm not sure how well this will work.
Mind you, the charts are a mix of pap and crap in the uk. so I don't know why I'm thinking it's different. ho well.

other thing to look at might be at using everyday footage, with an effect like cutout or similar to give it an animated look (get a rotoscopicng package if you have a mac and loads of dosh).. I think cutout is one of premiers own plugins..

also, if you can, a livecam will be fun.. I'm assuming drunk punters.. people love to see themselves on the screen.. the people there will go for it..

let us know what happens.. maybe I'll start speaking to First Leisure after all ;) (for those outside the uk - think ClearChannel but only in clubs..)

I did a record launch party some months ago and I had a great time remixing the single's videoclip. I had a five minutes video clip and I remixed it in real-time for an hour, keeping the content fresh with new edits, looks and effects for each song. If you can put your hand on some of the Top 40 video clips you should at least have a base to work on. You might have problems with copyright though...

I have a gig coming up that is priced for women at $20 and men $40, and open bar all night:rolleyes: , so you can imagine the crowd is just there to get drunk and then laid. The sponsor wants me to run some clips of what I thought would be their logo and such (no problem) but then I get their video and it's a drunk girl at a party flashing her boobs with the liquer company's name written in magic marker, and then she turns around and it's on her string bikini ass too.... It looks like it was shot (badly) by some "E" news or something. I guess I'm not offended by the content (aside from how stupid it looks) but I'm totally wondering if this is the kind of crap they are expecting all night....

I can just imagine the chaos when Holly's video propaganda starts to have it effect! Throw in some of the kicked-in-balls clips that people mentioned earlier in this thread and things could get very painful for any beered up young men who think they are going to get an easy lay :eek:
