Just landed a great bargain via an exhibition company. An 8x6 fast fold screen, flightcased with both white and silver screens, heck even one of the legs is still in the original brown paper wrap! The cost...absolutely nothing, nada, zip, nil. They were going to throw it away!
Keep hunting folks, sometimes you get lucky.:yep:

whoa! what kind of consumer-ized idiot decides its OK to throw away a fastfold? Are they on drugs or something? prolly not, since a druggie would at least think about selling it cheap to buy more drugs..
amazing..great score!

after this post, i asked a mate at an exhibition co if he had any spare screens knocking about, all he could come up with is a 15mx15m rear projection screen that was used at the labour party conference last year! so my question is....

is it possible to cut this sort of screen into smaller screens, and if so, providing i can transport it somehow (will not fit in a saloon car) and cut it up, would anyone like say a 5mx5m screen?

so what kind of fiscal damage would that come to?

providing i can get hold of the screen for free, i'd give them away, unless you feel i should charge.......

I dunno how much a 5mx5m rear projection screen is worth?

it depends on the matireal - if its the grey plastic stuff like a fastfold then you need to strech it tight for it to work properly - you could cut it up but you need to get it hemmed and eyelited by someone with a heat welder (try a tent company) - i know a couple of people able to do this kind of thing.

oh rember that video is 4:3 aspect ratio - if you gonna cut it up the make 4:3 screens

Fastfold screens consist of a folded aluminium frame, two folded aluminium legs and 2 types of surface (front and rear projection) that you stretch across the frame and attach with little poppers. You can put them up in a couple of minutes (hence the name) and they are about the best projection surface you could ask for. Because of their legs they are freestanding.

Examples here (http://www.audiovisual.co.uk/products_projectionscreens_projecta_fastfold.htm)

Fastfolds are definitely the way to go if you can afford them. They are not too dear to hire at least.

The only stupid question is the one that is not asked.

the other thing about fastfolds or other pro screens is the material is really hi tech High reflective surface that really bounces the light back well, until youve seen the difference between a fastfold and even the best homemade job you cant really appreciate what ppl r talking about, , i swear they double the lumen count of your projector

completely agree with you there red.

I think it's partly the surface and partly the fact that they stetch so tight.

Whatever it is, I've never seen nicer (front or rear) projections than with a good fastfold.

I just wish we could afford one... :(
