Anything can be what you want it to be Holly, anything.

BUT

What I think it is, is, someone, usually oversized, pretending to be a "ghetto-blaster". Cupping his hands, he engages in his artistic style, boom, bah, dum, dah. Every so often, one comes along that can master the scratch of a vinyl - wicca wicca wicca.

And he is what one would call, "The Beatbox", revered by his "hommies", feared by the other "clans".

Cian

I think....

No the human beatbox stuff mentioned in this thread is really what is being talked about!

Darn just missed this....

"The Human Beatbox Convention, Saturday 26th April, 2003
Imperial College, London, UK

The Imperial College adjacent to the Royal Albert Hall will be the hosting venue on, Saturday 26th April 2003 the world's first ever Human Beatbox Convention will take place in London, UK. This groundbreaking meeting will bring together vocal percussionists from across the world to explore the specialised art of beatboxing. The event will run from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

The beatbox revolution has started. The first ever Human Beatbox Convention will see a series of detailed talks covering many different aspects of the beatbox scene, alongside showcases displaying some of the finest examples of beatboxing in the world. Performers range from up & coming talent to veterans of the scene, and they will be showcasing in front of an expected group of 150 delegates from around the world. Guest speakers and performers are travelling from the United States, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and from around the UK.

"Beatboxing at its most simple level is the art of producing rhythms and beats with the mouth. By imitating percussion and other instruments a beatboxer can provide a backing beat for a singer or rapper. However over the years the art-form has developed into something evermore complex. It is constantly evolving, utilising one of the most complex things on earth: the human body."
- Brynley Gibson, Splinterproducts Ltd."

I dont do any of this stuff, but due to a unique teeth configuration I can do some synth noises. I simply hum within a certain frequency range, then just touch my 2 large front teeth to my rubbery bottom lip, and strange noises happen! I can add an extra lfo by wobbling my lips with my finger. Strangely enough I dont do this in public much as it looks extremely silly!!! I suppose I could be encouraged to post a small clip of this phenomenon if anybody cares to see what kind of freak is me.

It's worth you lot having a listen to Killa Kella, it may seem an amusing concept to you, but he's really quite impresive.

Oh sure I've dabbled..., but have a lot more experience riding on the back of that bike than steering. Probably very similar to beatboxing: Just don't forget about the basey uh-huh-uh-huh-uh-huh-uh-huh....

Im not sure that human beatbox stuff is really that new, I dunno really, maybe that bloke out of Police Academy who could make all them noises with his mouth helped. Actually now I think about it I think there was a dude at my school that did this stuff, I guess it would have been around 1989ish.

Anyway I just videod myself making noises and its embarresing and very rubbish as Ive never deliberately practiced, and the main problem is that there are not that many notes I can play that are in the right range to work, if I go low then it breaks down.

So anyway Im sure I will be stupid enough to upload it at some point, but it will have to wait till I lose all sense caring about how stupid I look :D It shouldnt take long, I usually make an arse of myself a few times a day.
