Has anyone ever even HEARD of a VJ being busted for sampling Hollywood movies or TV shows? Big Venue, large corporate sponsored gigs which have an agency involved are a different story, but for the average club or rave VJ, has ANYONE ever been busted? I mean if they started busting VJs, they'd have to bust DJs for playing CDs which are for private/personal use only. Please prove me wrong, but at a rave or club, the authorities have much bigger issues to worry about than if the VJs clips are being legally broadcast.

if there have been copyright infringment suits files against VJ's for live VJ gigs(keeping in mind the questionable content is not recorded and sold) they are few and far between. DJ's are a different story, and really can't be compared to VJing live. Many clubs pay for licensing of music played in the club, but there is AFAIK, a similar process set up for live visuals..

I've never heard of one in my 8 years of vjing... But again I don't think vj's are doing this at big events are they?

I've got some loops not from a hollywood film but made specifically for one very large international festival. Thier great loops but I only dare play them at small underground parties personally - not outstay my welcome so to speak

I don't know of any cases - I wish there was one. And it will be a civil matter with C&D letters first.
Probably many VJs are to small for this.

I presume you meant

Back in teh day when you rented VCR's (remember those?) from the local video store.. and you got the piracy message at the beginning.. I always used to lol at the fact that you also can't play your video in public on an oil rig
because, you know.. disney would totally have a rep in the south china sea keeping an eye on that

I would expect that Disney is the only company that is protective enough of their brand that they would go after VJs, especially if they were mixing it with porn.
