6. websites to check out in relation to vjing?
7. does the vj work in a booth in clubs, similar to what the dj is doing?
8. whats the pay like? say for the average punter.
basically PLEASE explain everything there has to do with the vjing as if im your grandma.

there are many techniques for syncing visuals to audio, you can simply cut between two video sources on a beat (using a hardware video mixer) change speeds of clips to match beats or generate effects on a computer that respond to an incoming audio signal.
There are many many methods depending on if you want to go the old skool route (multiple VHS or DVD players and a hardware video mixer) or the new "laptop vj" route (software that plays clips).
This article introuduces you to the software available:
http://www.vjcentral.com/faq/show/1968
This explains mixers and has links to reviews and discussions of mixers:

It is expensive, Grandma, it is!;)
Are you looking to get into it or just curious what it is?
1) Job Description: provide visuals through video (as opposed to slides or lighting)
2) Where to start? Try the FAQs on VJCentral.
3) What sort of equipment, hardware, software? All kinds. If it can make, play, or mangle video it's fair game. Some go completely software, some completely hardware, some straddle that fence and love it.
4)How is VJ keeping in line with music? Question is can the dj keep in line with the visuals!
5) What is a VJ? See your first question.
6) Websites? Pick someone who seems to know what he's talking about, click on his profile, and look for a link to his website.
7 & 8) These questions are about individual situations. There is no universal system.
