Shame most of the audience wont realise the work involved or exactly what's happening here. Good work. I'll have to pass you my record collection Ian :D.......only joking, good effort on the track ;) Are you signed, selling any yet?

cheers, Steve...

Have been signed to many labels including Nulife/BMG & Ministry doing remixes for them under Ian Knowles (check discogs for my back catalog) but I have always had an interest in art and motion picture and I think scratching is cool as fkuc hence why I've locked myself away from the scene for a few years trying to perfect the art (and I'm still soo far from this...)

Basically put the production to one side for a while as it doesn't earn as much as it used to (neither does the DJ'ing) but I find I can command a descent fee for AV scratch show.. so now I'm left making the music I want to make (not cheesy harddance remixing) adding my visuals and performing it all live with scratching... It has been a little overwhelming and time consuming though as you can imagine tryin to do it all!!

Scratching is for an ichy thing....not for music :D Good stuff on the production releases though.

IMO, scratching (audio and video) is a great effect, especially when synched, but like any effect gets old after ten seconds or so.

Ian> dude you seem to be on all the forums, I am on ....here vdj, and scratchlive. DJ Dan-E AKA (Funnyb0nz)

It is looking like alot of DJ are now crossing over into VJing however alot just want to mix the music videos. There are a nice group of us tho that are making video remixes and seem to be growing....Shooting other users over here to vjforums.com so they can learn a different art, and combine the 2.

Hey Dan,

Yeah I have seen you on vdj and scratchlive forums. I am quite active in trying to push the whole minagery of audio & video production and combine it with turntablist skills (not that mine are great by any means) but I think that it is a niche market were talent and preperation will shine (allbiet when everyone catches on to how effective this sort of a live show is), I'm sure the majority of VJ's on this forum would agree what a great enhancement good visuals can be especially if a DJ and VJ work together.

On the flip side I have noticed allot of VJ's turn DJ aswell and there shows tend to be more visually focused which is really refreshing as aposed to watching people spin music vids (somthing which I have never done and believe this is just for the masses of club DJ's and is quite uninspiring).

I spend time on the other forums as I help develope plugins and ideas in ways to allow greater creativity i.e. try and push some more complicated video methods which vj's use in simple effects plugins which DJ's or DVJ's or whatever the hell you want to dub them can use on the fly...

spread the word that AV's gonna land in a big way in the next couple of years and do what you can to pioneer this in clubs...

Sounds preachy I know, but we do need to push this scene.

two questions..

is it possible to scratch with a dvj1000 and a midi x-y pad.. say from a padKontrol, connected to ableton 7, the time position being related to the x axis; speed parameter connected to the y?

in the above situation, would that be similar to scratching with two dvj-1000's?
