Could someone please shed some light on my situ.

I am running windows xp and have reinstalled all my drivers for the graphics card but when i open the machine with the other monitor connected i can't extend the desktop onto the second monitor, my desktop settings box has only one monitor pictured and not the usual two which i used to get. I used to be able to change resolutions on my second monitor and also run separate applications on it but now i cant.

this is very important as i can't run resolume until i get this sorted.

Hi,

I had as well some kind of the same problem. I solved it
with uninstall the chipsetdrivers and then reinstalled the
rage (mobility-p agp 4x). I guess you did this already.

are you sure the driver supports extended desktop under XP? I have a dell inspiron and couldn't get multi display to work under win2000 but windows ME works fine. I suspect that maybe the drivers don't support it, unless you've had it working before. Let me know if you get it working.

good luck

They actually DO work, but are a little tricky... basically you go to desktop --> settings --> advanced --> twinview

And it will offer clone, disabled, horizontal span, and vertical span. If any of these is enabled then a mutli-monitor program worth its salt will be able to handle it.
