Vision'R VJ Contest

In order to enlarge audience and visibility of VJing throughout various
media and cultural landscapes, Vision'r has entered a partnership with Arte
channel in an exchange of active visual content.

Teasers, animated shorts and a video tutorial on how to navigate through

Using these and your own content, provide a 10 minutes demo either on music you created (or friend) or on Creative Commons or copyleft material.

3 of you will be invited to perform a 45 minutes live set at Vision'R on
Saturday evening, April 19th, 2008 (journey and 2 nights accomodation
provided by the festival).

Moreover, in partnership with Codanova and Arte, 1 VMX VJ MIDI controler will be granted to the performer among the 3 who shows the most interesting / artistic usage of the provided content, in a VJing approach, to give them a new hybrid life during the live mix.

Deadline : demos entering the contest must be received before midnight on
Monday, March 24th, 2008.

Is there any particular music theme at the event? Breaks / Trance / etc. etc. etc.

Hi, no music restriction for the demo but at the festival there will be only one music during the mix of the 3 guests.

Hi,

will there be a distinction made between entries which are recorded live and those which have been arranged in an editing app? It always frustrates me that for a Vj comp there are always those who prearrange a mix in an editing app and reap the obvious advantages that brings. i like to film a second monitor displaying the mix with just a little bit of my vj app screen in shot to show its actually being mixed live.

As far as musical styles are concerned, to give you an idea, here are 2 of the 3 selected demos for last year's contest. (Missing R_i's demo, as I don't know where to find it online... if anyone can help...?)

As you will notice, the soundtracks were quite different. And then, the 3 of us played live on DJ Wolf's live mix at the festival. Here's a short extract of the 2007 contest :

Hi & thanks to eMTv ! Our interest is for artistic content first so technologic part as editing touch is not a judgement point to make difference between demos, we're vjs first...

Less than one week before the Vision'R Contest deadline.
You'll have to send us a mail with a link for your video file to this e-mail
adress (Mpeg OR .mov only).
Tell us what codec you'll have used.

Tell us your name and surname, adress with town & country, your website and the
travel way for you to join us for Vision'R.

Better is a link to download it (from your website, ftp, yousendit.com,
megaupload.com, dl.free.fr ...).

Don't try to send us your video as an attached file. The quality will be
horrible for a 10 minutes demo if the file sizes 10 Mo.
Thanks to respect a 640X480 minimum resolution with good framerate according to
your work.

For those who didn't be able to download videos because of low connexion, we
have a ftp space - ask us for.

Il reste moins d'une semaine avant la deadline du tournoi Vision'R - Arte.
Envoyez-nous votre démo sous forme d'un fichier vidéo à télécharger (fichier
mpeg ou . mov exclusivement). Merci de nous préciser quel codec vous aurez
utilisé.

Merci d'indiquer votre nom, prénom, ville et pays de provenance, également votre
site internet et le mode de locomotion vous concernant afin que vous nous
rejoigniez à Vision'R.

Envoyer nous le lien par un mail à cette adresse par laquelle vous recevez ce
mail. Vous pouvez mettre le fichier de votre demo sur votre site avec un lien
html, sur un serveur avec lien html ou ftp (nous donner les codes d'accès), ou
en utilisant les services comme ceux de yousendit.com, megaupload.com,
dl.free.fr ...

Ne nous envoyez pas votre démo en fichier joint. La qualité pour une démo de 10
minutes faisant 10 Mo serait irregardable. Votre démo devra faire au moins une
taille de 640X480 avec un nombre d'images par seconde respectueux de votre
travail.

Pour celles et ceux qui n'auraient pas réussi à récupérer les vidéos d'Arte à
cause du débit trop faible des serveurs, nous avons mis les fichiers sur un
serveur accessible par ftp. Demandez nous les codes par retour de mail svp.
