Hello

Just wondering if anyone has vista 64 and noticed the lack of codecs that come with it?

can anyone suggest a good vista 64 codec pack?

this is for web based stuff, not live at present.

I am using the wmv codec at present.

thanks

WMV for VJing? Argl! BRRR!

Check out Lagarith 64 bit versions (http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html) for production (lossless, big files).

For realtime playback picvideo.

To compress you could try out this one: http://www.start64.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1876&Itemid=72
No idea how good the encoding quality is...but it should be very quick, so using VH capture driver (http://www.hmelyoff.com/index.php?section=9) to grap a part of your screen in realtime and write it into file may become an option.

This one may also worth checking out:
http://www.start64.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=610&Itemid=72
(Don`t install the pack itself! Make shure you enable decode only on those codecs you need inside the panel.)

Cineform also doesn`t hurt if you got the bucks..

Stay away from codec packs, they pollute your system with tons of codecs you don`t need and are known cause problems of any kind.

If you plan do do quality/speed tests tell us about your findings.

Hello

The picvideo seems to be only for non vista systems.

yeah have just tried it.

either I am doing something wrong or it has created a huge file : 1.4Gb

using 640x480 4:2:2 and qual of 19

length of movie is approx 7 minutes

compared to divx same comp in vjo and using 640x480 and quality of 7 which is 550Mb.

any ideas where I have gone wrong?

thanks
