I don't know the best location for this thread, i will post here.
I'm helping on my girlfriend essay about Sound and Light and i want to ask if someone have some work to get some information like this:
Concerts - Light in function of Sound (lightjockeying for example)
Generics - Like flashing light on a movie with a terror sound

I need examples and some text explaining the importance of using Light with Sound.

Thanks :)

I'm not sure exactly what your asking. But I am into Light Jockey/Design.
Used to run a strictly Martin setup controlled with Light Jockey 2 software.
F'ing amazing setup $250,000 investment. but it only really works well in
the velvet rope clubs, places I avoid when not working
Quality equipment, and good taste can make a huge difference.
You cant get a club crowd of a few thousand all jumpin in the dark, or with cheap rainbow random ass lights.

I don't want about systems :/ it's for my girlfriend project about sound and light and the connections between them like in a disco the DMX lights on the music beat and the effect on the audience :)

I am a so called 'lampy', but I have a bigger interest for video, that is why I hang arround here. :o

Doing Lights for a Party is totaly different than for for a concert, or for a theater play.

Since you don't have any specific questions, and I have no links to show you, I could write you a thesis here, wich I don't ;)

The connection light/sound in my opinion is rather important. Slow music, slower blinking/movement (depands on the type of lights you are working with, but best is offcours to have a combination). And turning on the stoboscope after a break/climax realy does wonders.

Most newer Light consoles can have an AudioLine in, and try to Sync automaticly, other, older desks, have a lame RMS based Mic, or a tap button, I prefer the tap button, but that gets shity if you need a drink/toilet.

A lot off it all depands on the desk you are working with, the Set-up, and if you want to operate it all, or set it on some kind off auto-pilot. But if you want to do it right, you need some time to set up your light desk, and try to get intoo the music (just like VJ-ing I am sure).

I have build/coded an auto-pilot light desk for a club we build/designed, and it is way harder than I thought, making it non predictable and on sync with the music.

Well, if you want to know anything, just shoot your Q's!

(from Homer, via Ellie Drew): "Light and Sound are the (controllers?) of consciousness. What is the most Light and Sound you receive in modern living? Television, movies, videogames! It is critical to have a look at this medium and use critical thinking about the impact of this Light and Sound invasion. There are so many things to say about this. The most obvious is to be wary of what you hear and see in regards to Light and Sound in your movies and television; there is unconscious programing occurring. The emotionally unstable of society could create acts of violence by having more negative Light and Sound stimulation. This is important. Please don't forget this. I only say this as a caution but more I would like to speak to the healing aspects that multimedia awakening tools can have on a society. The good thing is that if the Lightworker's Mission is to Awaken all those Ignorant in the World, then this could also be our greatest awakening tool. It may be the tool of the 21st century to awaken ignorance and fundamentalist indoctrination. Light and Sound while engaging the emotions is the KEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Light and Sound while engaging the emotions is the KEY!!!!!!!!!!!!...........Light and Sound while engaging the emotions is the KEY!!!!!!!!!!!"
This weird message is a message from the spirit world. Homer Hefty was a metaphysician when he was alive and when he transitioned out of his body he was able to find a clear channel, Ellie Drew, who wanted no part of this hippy-dippy shit. He says that on the other side, it is full of Music everywhere. He said imagine if all the voices on earth were singing together in harmony. That is one tone over there. I know Ellie Drew and Homer's Widow, Marge, personally. They are not imagining that they are communicating with him. The part that really gets to me is the last part "Light and Sound while engaging the emotions is the KEY!!!!!!!!!!!"
Light-Image and brightness
Sound- yeah we got the best music ever and we got it loud
While engaging the emotions- I interpret that to be "acting with focused intent"
it's the KEY!!!!!
to what?
I think you and I already Know the answer to that....

well id be looking up

> statistics between heartbeat and sound

> and maybe Photosensitivity, from the more extrem cases of epilepsy triggered by visual stimuli to the more subtle examples

> id also look at the effect of unnatural light on the circadian rhythm, a biochemical 24-hour cycle in the human body related to our responses to daylight and night time
