3rd international Faites de la Lumiere (except Antarctic)
Faites de la Lumiere is a french play-on-words meaning both Do your own light and Light Party.
During this evening, Faites de la Lumiere transform daily space (street, square, clearing?) in broadcasting space of audiovisual works and luminous creations.
Each Faites de la Lumiere, which appear in a town or in a village, is unique. It's the expression of an autonomous project result from the energy of local organizer, inhabitants of the place and participating artists.
A simple idea :
- interrupt temporaly public lighting
- using facades, shop window, windows, hanging sheets or any surface possible or unimaginable to transform it in screen or show space
- work with a commom material adaptable to any project: the light, to use as raw material or broadcast possibility
- broadcast directly in open air several kind of works realised by professionals or amateurs in order to cause sharing and discoveries
- invite everyone to participate.
All of the movie projections, videos, slides, chinese shadow, street theater and other luminosities create a unique and out of the ordinary festival.
The 2002 festival will rely on the creation of Lumiere workshop, space dedicated to children and inhabitants to familiarize them with technics of audiovisual creation. One brand new action is a live creation through internet exchange of interactive work, sounds and pictures between the different Faites de la Lumiere.
Any talents are welcome.
Faites de la Lumiere is a broadcasting process which encourage anyone to share in public and in outdoor their universe. Everyone is responsible for their intervention and transform, as they want, public space.
Share your universe, show your slides, broadcast your films, declaim your poems, tail your adventure, reveal your imagination, put cutted paper onto the windows, transform your daily life?
in a word, go outside taditional way of exhibition, outside closed space?
- THE ORGANIZERS -
Local organizers of FAITES DE LA LUMIERE are ?:
* groups of inhabitants who want to wake up their environment,
* groups of performers with the desire to spread their work beyond classical gallery, festivals,
* associations created especially for the event,
* experimental happy clubber,
* contemporany art gallery,
* independent televisions,
* movie directors trying multimedia issues,
* organizations working on areas in difficulty,
* adventurers scientifics,
* light designers,
* alternative spaces,
* some cranks,
* etc?
Together, they form the Faites de la Lumiere Federation.
Everyone organize their Faites de la Lumiere
according their imaginary, technical and financial possibilities.
