Hi

I do not realy now what you mean with that question?
I know some things about Controlling Lights with DMX protocol (like MIDI but for the professional lights designers and technics)
that can be also controlled via som Programms called like "Lightjockey"from Martin or many other also open-source projekts but to do this you would need some DMX-Interface or a ISA/PCI-Card that have a XLR-out to transmit the DMX-Signals to the Dimmer or the Moving-lights.

The other Way is to get an Controlling-Card and controll relay-swithes with this (i do?nt now how??)

maybe that could help you or you could specify your question more with this info?

hi

check this picture out
its the low_cost usb-dmx inerface that i use with my old laptop to sync the Movinglights of my Video_Audio_Light-Setup with an USB-MIDI-Interface on to Midi-timecode (MTC) or send commands with Midi Machine Control (MTC)

it is not the only product on the Market but its open_source and that is the best thing on that because it is realy odular and u can use it with many other good software (free & commercial)!
I have also a old Desktop Computer (133 Mhz 160Ram) with a ISA-DMX-Interface to control the Dimmers for the static Lights (Parcans and other normal Lights) on Partys and @ home :)
now i would change the os from win 98 to linux to enhance the machine.

If someone is interested to now more about Lightning or DMX maybe we can start a new threat for that?

hi guys,

switching on lights on lighting devices is doable with any type of dmx software, all u have to do is find the right dmx channel and the right dmx value to trigger the lights... for example to turn on the lamp with Martin its 95% in the shutter dmx channel and to turn it off its 98% i think...
u just have to figure out which dmx channel to trigger...
when u have a device on dmx channel 30 and internally it uses the 4th dmx channel for the shutter u have to trigger channel 34 to get the shutter dmx channel...
in the manual of any lighting device u will find a table that explanes this features...

u always need to get the dmx to the device off course...

good luck, SuperficiaL
