being wanting to get into this Vj thing for some time now and after watching unjulations performance at skirmish in leeds a couple of weeks ago , and following recommendations from folk at the party to use resolume , i decided to give it a whirl this week.

got a hell of a lot of questions though.

Firstly i have one home Pc , Athalon 750(probably upgrading )
256mb ram , hercules geforce 2 mx , and one P111 600 laptop 128mb ram 8mb ati , i don't have a lot of money to spend as we are currently building a free party rig.

there is no tv out connector for my home pc graphics card , it says it supports dual view with the detonator drivers installed , so is it possible to buy an add on for internal fitting on the card itself , in order to support this feature

is there any way i can use the combined power of the pc's for visual stuff , ie 3 dimensional overlays from the laptop with the bulk of video mixing done by home unit .

also projectors , is it possible to do live broadcasts projected at resolutions of 320x240 , if it is , can i save some money by broadcasting at lower res , through buying a lower end second hand projector to project at low res

also is there any type of plugin in the pipeline so that i can play audio in the background and make visuals responsive to beat as well as manual input .

also what is the best codec to use for formatting all my different avi , mpeg files etc.

that's the first couple of questions out the way

thankyou in advance for any help you can offer

Much appreciated

These are a lot of questions. Some are so specific to your machine(s) that you might need to do some experimenting. Read through the FAQs (http://www.vjcentral.com/list/faq/31) on vj central to see if some of your questions are answered there.

320*240 is fairly common resolution. Brightness is probably a better indicator of a projector's worth than high resolutions, so certainly consider getting a cheaper, brighter projector with lower rez. A hardware mixer would be the best way to mix/layer your two computers.

Good Luck!
