View Full Version : Nighttime drive - mpeg 50Mb - looking for host

I have a 5min long mpeg (VCD PAL) from a car drive at night time recorded with DV camera from the dashboard.
1000% increase in speed (fastforward).
Size 50.2Mb.
No watermarks, logos, or text is included - only the recorded car drive itself.
I have added a musical soundtrack instead of using original recorded audio; 1000% pitched or timestrected audio doesnt sound any good - and 5 min of silence is quite boring.
Music does the trick, and the atmosphere in this video clip is really eerie.
Audio excerpt from "Pete Namlook & Geir Jenssen - A Way To Focus The Mind" from the ambient album "The Fires of Ork 2" (FAX PW0442).
The video material itself is public domain, as long as you dont use it for financial profit or gain.
Please let me know if anyone is interested in hosting this video clip .. either on an anonymous ftp server, or a http server - available to the public. Anyone running an open file server for PD video clips would be much appreciated :)

grrrr I have tried uploading a 9 sec excerpt from my video file as an attachment to this post several times, but it wont work .... not even if I zip the file first.
It only results in http://www.vjforums.com/newreply.php dispalying a page with a couple of megebytes of garbage (hex and ascii chars)
Any known issues with the forum server?

Irios has been kind enough to share this 5 minute video piece with us. Its a 1 hour drive (I'm guessing) through highways and backroads at night at 1000X speed with quiet relaxing music to accompany it. The contrast between the quick motion of the video and slow tempo of the music is excellent.
I will be hosting it at the following location for 1 week (until Wednesday the 26th) for downlaod and viewing purposes. As this is not space owned by me, it will only be up temporarily. If someone else has space to host it afterwards, please let Irios know. The Audiovisualizers Server perhaps?
Enjoy

Thanx for the inspiration Irios :)

The car drive took 50 minutes in real time.
And it was recorded while driving around, and in, the town of T?nsberg in Norway at 2200 in the evening earlier this week.
I used Adobe Premiere 6.5 to edit it, and increased the speed 1000 percent.
TMPGEnc was used for encoding the DV stream to mpeg1, while using various internal filters to add warmth to the colours, and to increase gamma levels.
If you watch this video clip on a computer monitor, you might find it quite dark. I used a histogram to correct gamma, brightness and contrast - the colour settings in the rendered mpeg were intended for playback on a television set or a video projector - not rgb/dvi on a computer monitor.
BTW: I actually spent more time finding a musical piece to accompany the video, than I spent making it :)

@Irios. Here's a version of your night_drive video:

If you'd like, I can throw your original clip up there too.
Thanks for the inspiration.
I only used the first 2 minutes and 18 seconds. I was having buffer problems that kept killing the render. Would have liked to render the entire 5 minutes. Hope you enjoy.

We'll try this one more time::scared:

I've encoded the file as an mpeg. I hope this will solve any of the viewing problems that have been encountered. The original audio is not there (I tried to include it, but couldn't get it to work) and the video isn't as clean as the .mov version.
