I don't know but it is certainly possible in vbulletin to prevent anyone using pictures in their sigs. Other boards do it, and there are alot of boards that I think really suffer from people overloading their sigs with pictures, making threads impossible to read, one line of text then loads of pics etc..
I don't think that vjf suffers from this problem at the moment, as most sigs are either without pics or only have one..
If enough members think that picture sigs are becoming an issue to using the boards then we can talk about banning them - that would only be pictures, not text sigs of course

yeah, you cna block images individually in firefox anyway, by blocking images from a site completely, but although that's fine with some sigs that are hosted elsewhere, some are hosted on VJforums so if you blocked images from there you'd loose things like the vjforums banner and possibly alot more besides like smileys..

yea, would be nice to have "worksafe" or "nopics" skin that could be selectable in the style chooser. anythig that makes vjf look a bit liek a bit of work, basically so i dont the secretaries on my floor grassing me up for using the net.

Yeh I agree some banners are annoying, but for me mainly due the size, not quantity. How about setting a banner max size??

Kind of related question.. recently noticed that on some PC's my avatar is not displaying? Any ideas why this is? Made to the exact specs as per guidelines.

no I've no idea about avatars I'm afraid, I can tell you that your avatar does not show up here (win xp pro / firefox 2.xx), everyone elses does, I'd always assumed that you were going for some kind of post modern ironic thing with an avatar stating in text "liquidmetros avatar" :)
maybe someone who actually knows about vbulletin will come along and let us know if (a) a pictureless skin for vbulleting can be arranged and (b) why liquidmetros avatar isn't showing up, although that's a much more difficult question

:lol2: Alas no! I'll try coverting it to a diff image format and try again. I'd assumed that it was probably admin settings on my work PC & Laptop that prevented it from being displayed....if it doesn't show on yours aswell then it can't be that! :P

Yeah some sigs are getting increasingly annoying. A blind eye has been turned on animated ones so far but really they are not allowed. I think we did have a max size of 3-4 ines of text or a small pic(cannot remember the dimenisions but small)

I too thought that.

It was probably the wrong size or something that is way it wasn't showing

How about A max size of 1 pixel high? ;-)

Can you see it now? Think it was due to an odd color profile.

Adblock did the trick.

the signature controls in this version of the forum software are rubbish - the newer version has better controls for signature images...

at the moment the best you can do is to turn of signatures altogether - do this in your user control panel http://www.vjforums.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

yeah I can see it now

DoA is the absolute fucking worst for sigs. I don't know how anyone can even read that forum. even if I was really, really, really, really into dnb (and I'm not) I couldn't use that forum because it's like one line of text and then

you get to the next bit.

only there's loads of fucking animated gifs in between making you think that there's something worth reading...

[/rant]

if this forum ever approached anything like doa for sig pics then I would leave until they were banned completely.
personally I don't think your sig is a problem dvnt, but in part that's only because (a) it's not animated and (b) most other people don't have them so it doesn't cause much disruption to reading threads.. if everyone had pics like yours in their sigs, I'd probably find it difficult to read the forums, and would probably stop becuase of that.
