Does anyone here use the Matrox RT Mac Card for editing? Looking into getting one... the price just dropped big time, thought I'd ask for opinions first.

some of the teachers here at ithaca college bought them and i knwo a freelance editor that owns one... and say they dont offer many effects in real time. matrox is also slow to upgrade the card...

ive heard nothing but complaints.

I just recently bought one of these units w/ BOB. I feel it's a good value as it increases workflow quite a bit. True that it doesn't offer a WHOLE lot of realtime effects, but enough to increase workflow 2 fold. I feel good about my purchase. There's a positive=)

the analogue in/outs would be useful, but the realtime fx architecture has been superceeded by fcp3, which does it all on the G4.

i had one of the first rt2000's into the UK before my mac days, and it was solid and an amazing price/performance breakthrough, so if its cheap you probably won't look back.

_but for anything high-end visually, you're gonna have to render period... so you're just back to the analogue in/outs...
