I made a cheat sheet long ago for G Force which is compromised of this:
S - Titles off
P - Particles
Y - Spawn New Particles
N - Normalize
F and G - Freeze/Continue Slideshow
[ and ] - +/- sound Amplitude
{ and } - +/- number of bins (steps)
Z X C - Previous/Next/Hold DeltaField
Q W E - Previous/Next/Hold ColorMap
, . M - Previous/Next/Hold WaveShape
other than some directions to a long forgotten house, that's all that's on the piece of paper, don't know what version this was for... I'd assume the stand alone, but don't know for sure. haven't used G Force in yrs. enjoy :)

Yes, it can take external audio, mic, line-in, etc. At least on a Mac.

All the variables to manipulate G-Force can be found in the G-Force preferences file. Open this file with a text editor and change what you want and save. The list to what the variables are can be found in the G-Force documentation.
If you haven't already push 'H' for the help menu when G-Force is running, this will let see all the key commands available.
Other than that you should definetly check out http://www.55ware.com .
