Please Help Me!!

Thick as I am - it is my first time so
please be gentle with me!

I am extremely interested in VJ'ing -
I dj at a local late night bar using my
PC and some software called ATOMIXMP3
(see http://www.AtomixMP3.com).
We have on several occasions considered
trying VJing through the clubs 3 digital
projectors (Normally used during World Cup
season only!!) but thought it'd be too expensive?!
All we want to do is have some wicked pictures
in video (i.e. MPEG or something like it) format
and have the ability to place writing and other
animations over and into it.
I have a very limited amount of cash can you advise
me of a good all round package?

Then download a demo of MotionDive (http://www.vjcentral.com/show/1919) (review is for version2, but version 3 is out and is supposedly better). This is a very stable and friendly app that does not require much technical knowledge or special attention. Runs on most laptops with video out (PC or Mac) Also allows custom text messages to be input and displayed on the fly. Double check if it is compatable with mpeg1. This is a great place to start.
